[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZqEs5jcR_M]Joe Rogan podcast-Amazing discussion with Sam Harris part 2 - YouTube[/ame]

This is one of the best verbal explanations of realization, enlightenment that I have heard online in a video. No bs, just cutting through to the real essence on what realization is... different meditation methods and their purpose. Psychadelics and their role (or non-role) in realization... very good stuff. If your interested in enlightenment/Buddhism/vedanta/the universal realization... you will probably enjoy this.

Peace :smoke:

I don't understand joe Rogan.
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.

I agree, thats a great description of it. But also, one man's description of enlightenment could be drastically different than another. So who's to say which is right or wrong?

I lay my hand on you,

on the swell of your belly,

and let it float

on the rise and fall

of the river in you..

Right. I can see your point, it kind of all depends on the context with which you are using the term "enlightenment".

All throughout time, all of the different spiritual traditions all point to one common experience, one common realization that is known as enlightenment, realization of the true nature of reality, etc. Buddhism, Yoga, Vedanta, Zen, Taoism, other mystical paths... they all have one particular common experience that is known as enlightenment that is the goal of each of their paths and practices.

However the word enlightenment can be thought of in different ways... such as you can be "enlightened" about a topic you never knew, or enlightened about the inner workings of your mind, etc. Somewhat like a lasting epiphany. But in this context I am using it to refer to the universal experience which all spiritual traditions point to as enlightenment.

I don't understand joe Rogan.

What's to understand or not understand? He's just a dude like the rest of us lol. The main guy talking here in Sam Harris btw.

Not really. There is no duality in non-duality.

I don't think I can listen to the video although I love Joe Rogan... I think there was a thread about which celebrity you'd like to meet awhile back and I said Joe Rogan. He'd just be cool to hang with whether or not he 'frees your mind.'

Anybody have any ideas why my computer just stopped making noise? I got no audio anymore. Twas a buzzkill when I tried to listen to some DMB last night. :(

I thought enlightenment was indescribable?

True enough, but it can be pointed at :)
