It's hard to tell, it depends on what all the dogs are trained to smell.

the idea of drug dogs being trained to sniff out pharmies seems unlikely to me. after all, many chemicals are odorless.

No. The only way a dog could be trained would be if the drug has a very distinct odor. Even If it did, it would have to be enough for humans to smell so the trainers could recognize it as a possibility for training.

I just don't see cops and feds training dogs to smell xanax when they are after illegal drugs like heroin or coke.

Re: can drug dogs smell adderall/xanax?

I very seriously doubt it. I find it hard to believe that a dog would be able to detect one RX drug over another. it is also hard for me to believe that they are trained to sniff out all Rx drugs. Think about the false hits that would be going on if they did. How many people carry thier medications with them routinely. I dunno maybe I am just tore up from the wake and bake and the vics I am on for a tooth that needs a root canal.

No. If so, don't you think things would get annoying for the people who have a prescription and use adderall/xanax for medical reasons? I mean imagine you have a prescription, so it's entirely legal for you to possess it, and then you're constantly getting stopped by police dogs?

Just doesn't sound feasible to me.
