Cigarettes

Hey guys, me and a few of my family members are planning to quit smoking cigarettes this upcoming Nov 28th.

If any of you have quit, what helped you the most?
And what inspired you the most to quit?

These cigs run my life, and they are killin me.

Of all of societies poisons, I picked the worst.

Re: Cigarettes

Mind over matter, don't think about them and you wont want them.

Also, stay away from alcohol for a couple of weeks. Pretty much the only times when I feel like smoking is when I've been drinking.

Re: Cigarettes

From everything that Ive tried, going cold turkey was the best. I quit on the 1st and I only smoked one the next night as the goodbye cig. Im doing very well and I can already see improvements to my health. I have been getting into martial arts and parkour. I want to get into urban exploration but all this requires peek physical conditioning, which means the cigs HAD to go

Re: Cigarettes

Distract yourself like crazy for atleast the first week.
Make that first week, the busiest fucking week ever, so you literally have no time to waste on smoking a cigarette.
Definitely don't make it stressful enough so that you feel the need for one though.
Fill your weekend up with FUN stuff, maybe speicifically at places with no smoking.

Thanks guys for the answers.

Yea, I was thinking about this one the most. I was planning to get back on World of Warcraft, as silly as that sounds lol, but it's a great distraction.

I'm 18, and i've been smoking for two 1/2 years. My weight is low, and I feel like shit. I'm at the pinnacle of my adolesence, and now i'm about to enter what some would call, "The real world" (as ridiculous as that sounds as well).

I want to be in great shape, because I want to do great things. These cigs have to go.

Re: Cigarettes

Use classical conditioning. There are tons of experiments done by psychologists that provide evidence that you can condition someone into believe something completely different. For example, John Watson, a famous psychologist, got a baby name Albert. He then showed Albert a white furry animal. No abnormal response was recorded. The next time Albert was shown this animal, a gong was struck. This caused him to cry. After doing this for a few times, all Watson had to do was show Albert the white furry bunny and he would cry hysterically. This is because his brain was conditioned to group these two together. If you can associate cigarettes with something you hate, it might make quitting a bit easier.

Damn man, i'm going to have to try that as well.

I'll most likely print out a pic of a nasty, tar filled lung..and carry it around with me to constantly remind myself how nasty it is.

Re: Cigarettes

I need to quit smoking soon, i've tried a few times but failed.

Smoking more weed helps, just get really really stoned off a parachute and your throat will be too sore to have a smoke, plus you'll be to stoned to smoke.

At least thats how it is for me

Re: Cigarettes

I quit smoking when my friend told me how to get my medical marijuana card for my symptoms.

I always said if I had unlimited access to weed, I'd quit smoking.

I smoked cigarettes from the age of 8 until 27. 19 years. I used Medical Marijuana to quit.
If that's not a reason it should be legal, I don't know what is.

I bought cheep ass mids and rolled them up in joints and smoked hem when I needed a cig and then I bought a small stash of bomb along with it to get me baked when I really needed to get baked.

So far, I haven't smoked for like 3-4 months since I've had my card! Yay me!
