| Fun with diphenhydramine
Well i just remembered my little benadryl adventure a few months ago and thought i would share. Seeing as there is no official forum for benadryl i thought id post it here.
So when i was around 16 me and a few friends tried benadryl. Nothing major, they took like 8 (200mg) and i would take like 12 (300mg) and i would get a tiny bodyload and some giggles but nothing more, so i wrote it off for a while. Fast forward to a few months ago, im 19 now and decide "what the hell, im dry, might as well try benadryl again" and i took 20 (500mg). I got a HUGE bodyload, no giggles and i was NOT tired at all. It was overall a bit odd but nothing insane so i waited a few days and figured id bump the dosage a little. This was a TERRIBLE descision.
The afternoon started with me in my room holding 28 benadryl (700mg) Seeing as this wasnt insanely more than i had taken before i figured i would be okay. So i take the pills and give them time to kick in. On the come up it was as normal, body load and all, but when i stood up from the computer something was very, very wrong. I knew this wasnt a normal high, i was forgetting everything i knew and found it hard to talk, i also had to hold on to my dresser to stand up. I waited maybe 30 mins and then was reassured in my mind this was no "normal" high, this was bound to be too intense for me to handle and i had to call someone before i completely lost my grip on reality.
I called one of my friends who is much older and wiser than me and explained the situation to her and she told me to immediately call someone and get to the hospital. So i call my grandma and tell her i have taken too many pills and i need to get to the hospital right away, and that i was not fit to drive at this time. We get to the hospital and i get out holding her hand as we walk up and i tell the lady at the desk i overdosed on benadryl. She tells me to sit down. I go and sit down and it gets worse, im still coming up, and so my friend who im on the phone with tells me to tell her and they take me back in the triage immediately. At this point im starting to lose my grip on reality. No visuals yet but it was hard to answer questions that they were asking me, because i had to make an effort to remember the stuff they wanted to know. After they were done they told me i was going back into the hospital area and i tried to walk, but they insisted that i sit in the wheelchair and i told them "No i can walk" but they said to me "Just this one time sit in the chair, please" so i did.
When we get back there i lay in the bed and they told me they were putting an IV in my arm to give me fluids since people who OD on benadryl tend to get dehydrated, and i agree with them, seeing as i couldnt really move at all at this point due to the weight of my body. Then things got MUCH worse. The wall in front of me starting waving in and out and i excitedly told my grandmother, and my mother who was now there (she was really there, i wasnt seeing things) They said "Great". I was fading in and out of conciousness at this point, whenever i was awake i would have intense visuals which seemed entirely real at the time, i couldnt seperate reality from my hallucinations.
I do recall seeing a man in a pinstripe suit smoking a cigar behind the curtain they had there and i excitedly proclaimed "Hey theres a man in an Armani suit behind that curtain!" and they doctors were laughing and saying i even knew the brand of suit he was wearing. From what grandma tells me it was hard to tell what i was saying, as my speech was very slurred. She did say that every few minutes i would tell them about people i was seeing or the show i was watching on the TV in the wall (that wasnt there) sometimes about the ants on the bed or wall too. They kept me overnight in the hospital because my heartrate was almost 300 from what they told me. Once everything was back to normal and i wasnt tripping anymore the doctor came in and asked me if remembered him from that night, he said he had his daughter on his lap while he was talking to me (which made me feel bad, that she had to see someone in that state at that age, all because of me) He also said i was VERY lucky to have survived, and that i was lucky i didnt go into a coma, have a heart attack, or have a massive seizure rthat night.
Overall my trip was NOT enjoyable and i almost died.
Im not trying to tell someone not to try something they want to but if you do try that much just remember that you will most likely not remember anything of that night, and you could very well die.
So thats my story. Anyone got any good/bad deleriant stories?
