EDIT: the closest drug to a psychadelic i've used is weed. So i dont know much about how many hits i like to take lol

IMO, LSD is fairly similar to mushrooms. There are differences though. Mushrooms seem to be a much more mental trip and can get very visual also. LSD, to me, is just a great time with great visuals. I've never seen fairies or anything like that, just patterns and distortions just as you said. I think youll find the visuals to be rather similar to mushrooms but its a different trip non-the-less.

Edit: LSD can and usually will get pretty mental toward the end of your trip, around the 7-9th hour for me, but I still think Mushrooms are much more likely for a mentally bad trip if you dont know what your in for.

So, I haven't done anything except pot before, and I'd like to ocasionally experiment with most of, if not all, of the psychadelics the world has to offer. My question is simply what I can expect from the following:
-LSD
-Opium (smoked or eaten)
-Mescaline
-Psilocybin mushrooms

When I say what can I expect, I mean what will the trip be like, how long will it last, what are the after-effects, if any, what factors can induce a bad trip, things like that.
All of your information will be greatly appreciated.

Im still dropping that acid on wednesday, so any tips? Whats it like, and what will i see? Ive done shrooms but this is my first time wit that LSD. What will i see? anything i should do to get prepared? Im very happy rite now

Erowid is a great place to start, check out the pages on the particular drug, as well as the experience vault for each one.
Also check out Pihkal and Tihkal (which are found on erowid btw!)

Oh, opium btw, is an assortment of opiates. Which means its in the same class as heroin, oxycodone, codeine, etc.

Also, about the opium part. I know that there's a lot of different kinds of opiates, but the kind I want to do is whatever the Chinese often smoked through pipes in opium dens.

I have a question reagarding salvia. I've tried it before, got some mild trips and im planning on smoking it again sometime. I'm curious though, what if you have your eyes close the entire hit/time?

Would you still get shit scared? Anyone try this before?

when i smoke salvia i take the biggest hit i can and when i trip its like in my head and shit.. but mild hits are nice to close your eyes on

No. Mushrooms are psychedelics, not dissociatives. The active ingredient in mushrooms (psilocybin) is found in the entire mushroom...

LSD, Mescaline, and Mushrooms all work on your serotonin receptors, and produce mostly similar affects. The real difference is in potency, and duration of the trip. For visuals, many people report slight distortions, colored patterns, trails, etc. You're not gonna be talking to something that's not there, like you see in the movies. It's just that the shit that's already there changes (for example, the sky might turn purple, and the street blue... Shit like that).

Opium is comprised mostly out of Morphine and Codeine, and produces a sedative affect like taking a pain killer.

For me, acid's a lot like mushrooms... Just longer lasting, and not as shitty tasting.

so i gota question, so i was tripping on 900 mg of dxm a few weeks ago by my self and a few tings on my trip really surprised me. I guess i should prefrence by saying on my trip i little to no hallucination, rather the whole trip was in head combined with a small body high.
ie closed eye visuals mixed with mild wall breathing and some small patterning on white walls and some euphoria. This actually was the most i have ever tripped before as i am pretty new to psychedelics, (the only other psychedelic i have tried was salvia 5x a year or two ago.)
But what really surprised me about my trip was that i contemplated suicide. I'm not a depressed person and up until this trip i though i was having a great summer. No job, great sex, good music, lack of drugs (but whatever) but i was able to control how much money i had which made me pleasantly happy.
The way i felt suicidal was not like in a depressed way, but more of a reflective way. It had nothing to do with a bad trip at all, but i think i was turning the idea of death over and over in my head which made me want to try it lol. Because how do you know what death is like, if no one living has ever died? the idea of suicide really never progressed any fruther than just turning it over in my head while i was laying down listing to music.
Anyways i pulled my self away from the idea because i reminded my self that i was tripping, (The wall next to me told me it was a bad idea, i asked the wall who it was, and it said god. I laughed and said something along the lines of that's funny because i'm an atheist) But this reminded me that i was tripping and i got up and changed my setting to another room and different music to continue the trip.
What do you guys suppose this part of my trip means?
