Just bought two ounces of some mushrooms and was wondering how long it takes for mushrooms to go bad? I have them stored in an airtight mason jar away from light and heat.

i think they can last for like 6 months if stored right. not sure though

they can last pretty long if you store them correctly, although you're best bet (if u can) is to get them right before you eat them. To store them put them in a bag and squeeze as much air as you can out, then put them in the freezer. Just make sure no water can get in the bag or else theyll go moldy.

why would you buy 2 ounces if you're just going to store them? you can get mushrooms anywhere anytime. all you have to do is ask. atleast in washington.

You live many miles away from me, and you also probably know different people than me, which is why this statement doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Around where I live, it's extremely hard to find mushrooms; in fact I haven't been able to find them in months. So, when they came around, I made sure to get enough for a few trips so I wouldn't have to spend countless hours searching again.

i always thought shrooms could last pretty long just in a baggy. Somebody please tell me if im wrong, i got some boomers left over from a few weeks ago that im planning on eating in the next few days!! the shrooms shrould still be good right?

true!!! i love the pacWest lol but ya the shelf life is pretty longjust keep them in a ziploc or a mason jar

so if i buy shrooms, squeeze out as much air as i can but them in a airtight med bottle and but it in a closet for a month would they stay fine?

Air and Moisture are your biggest enemies, along with light.

A cool, dry and dark place is optimal. I'd say 3-6 months, and You'll want to consume them. Fresh mushrooms last about a week in a brown paper bag in the fridge.

The sooner you can consume or " get rid " of them, the better. Shrooms are best consumed sooner, rather than later.
