mycobags/growing mushrooms

i want to grow some shrooms, but i don't want to spend a lot of money....anyone know of a cheap and effective way to grow mushrooms?

i recently was alerted to a product called mycobags- which can be used to grow mushies...has anyone used these before? Do they work?
I searched google, and i found a place to buy em, but i have no idea if they work or not. They're relatively cheap, too (hence this thread )

any help would be appreciated

Mycobags are somewhat useless IMO, they price sounds right to begin with, but then once you're done, you need new ones, and then you need more new ones. I'd do some heavy investigating over at The Shroomery, read, read, read, read, read, USE THE SEARCH BUTTON, read some more, and then ask any questions you still have.

i'm looking for the cheapest way to grow mushrooms with the least amount of work possible....and a pre- sterilized bag where I can inject spores and watch mushrooms grow sounds like my best bet lol

just ask yourself that question, is the cheapest, easiest way usually the best way? no.

the main problem with mycobags, especially if you fruit inside the bag (this is called invitro fruiting) is extremely small yeilds and less than optimal conditions. a lot of people use the bags to colonize their substrate, then open the bag and case the substrate like they would a normal jar.

you can try it and get back to us, but I think you will be disappointed in your results.

buy straw. a few mason jars. and your also gunna def need a pressure cooker. thats a must i dont care how poor u r lol. if your growin inside you need one. u should start off with cakes if your new. then when your cakes are spent, pastuerize some straw and put alternating layers of cake crumble in the straw that you put in a rubbermaid. yeah i reccommend the shroomery and shroomgods straw tek. easy and cheap
