Morphine pills

I have read many threads on this forum about people taking morphine pills and getting high etc. I am not doubting this, but, it is my understanding that when morphine is ingested orally it is almost completely metabolized into inactive substances on its first pass through the liver and this is why codeine is more often prescribed (because even though 10% of codeine is metabolized into morphine, the second pass through the liver doesn't metabolize as much morphine, allowing it to be much more effective) Can someone let me know if I am perhaps mistaken? Thanks.

I honestly don't know for sure, or the reason, but i am pretty certain that you are correct.

Iv never done morphine, but from what Iv read ingested orally morphine doesn't have much recreational potential, thats why most people snort it.

I'm not sure how correct that is but i have 100mg morphine sulfate pills. They have a time release i take that off and snort the pill, it's about equal to a roxy 30 or a little more i'd say. I snort one and im fucked up all day, roxies i end up doing 2-4 over the day but with morphine i may be half way into the 2nd pill at the end of the night.

I've never taken em orrally and i was planning on doing that today for a fishing trip but its too cold. If the time release is removed and the pill is chew it starts to hit within 30-45 but effects lasted much longer but were not extrememly intense(i know this person would be sick if they ate 15mg of roxy, so maybe it is weak orrally but they are strong when ya snort em thats for sure.

I've got a question. A member of my family has to take morphine patches due to a herniated disc and she says it doesn't get her high... Do you think this is true?

I know morphine patches if used at an increased dose will get you high.

you are 100% right, in my experience with morphine pills, ive never really gotten a buzz even when ive taken 120mg(which i think is alot)


now IV morphine is another story the buzz off that shit is quite nice

I snorted a full 100mg at 12 and about a 1/4 of another so, 25mg at 2:45. I'm surely fucked the hell up, i've got an awesome body buzz and i feel great. Normally I'd do 3 30mg roxies in that amount of time and i wouldnt feel about the same euphoria-wise i'd say.

Wow I'm really really fucked up off 125mg feel awesome and sometime double vision.

How the hell do you guys not get feeling good after 100mg? I'll admit I'm not really one for pills at all (only took morhine once, didn't care for it, havent done anything since). But still I took 60mg and was feeling pretty good. Many of my friends would snort 90-120 and they would not be able to be coherant.
