200 years ago we had slavery, extreme limitation of speech, limited voting rights, and lynchings.

And people DO spout anti American views in the middle of cities. They do protest the government and it's policies.

Try doing that back in the beginning of this country or in the 1910's or even in the fifties.

We presently:
- Have no slavery
- Do not prosecute people for their speech
- Can vote regardless of sex or gender
- Do not have to enlist in the military
- Have rights to the point where cases will be thrown out of court if procedure is not exactly followed
- Do not murder people for occupying lands that have been theirs for generations
- Have a public school system
- Do not put people on trial for their political views
- Have an intimate view into the government via C Span and other media outlets


I could keep going.

Really, the only complaints I have with the government are as follows:
-Taxxes
-Drug Prohibition
-Weak Borders and too lenient punishment for Illegal aliens
-Legal Abortion
-Fairly stupid president

I agree with everything you said.

the problem isnt NOW... its the future. yes, right NOW everything is pretty solid, despite Iraq and domestic issues.

however the future is what is going to rape us all... the national defense act that president bush enacted which enables him to station US troops in any US city without consent and declare martial law has already been passed. The Patriot Act. The Real ID Act, coming soon to a city near you.

This country is def heading down the shithole and I cant wait to leave.

Unfortunately, where is safe? Canada? NO. Canada is the bitch of the US and the rest of the world. Canada is actually the country supporting the N. American Union the most. And as someone else said, once the US is a police state, so will Canada.

It seems like there is no where one can go to be completely safe from govt persecution while enjoying the freedoms we all love and take for granted.

So I guess we are all just going to stay in America and turn our heads the other way, while the govt passes legislation infringing upon our natural born rights and sticks the metaphorical dick into the ass of every American. (and illegal aliens as well)

Well if that future comes to pass, which I personally don't think it will, I will be ready for it. My plan is to be totally self sufficient by 2025
