I'm in the exact same position. Currently unable to stand up properly, so three (or rather, four, with drying) weeks from now... W00H00!

I put a plant in the side of the flowering chamber specifically to keep me going in buds (been a drought here, and I'm skint) while the girls do their stuff; I've been clipping it for weeks, just gets better and better.

I'm doing the same. The plant I've tested off of is about 2 weeks further into flowering than the rest. I wish I could just pick up an ounce so I wasn't pinching off my future stash but unfortunatley I haven't been able to find any bud the last 4 days

I think there's a lot of taboos around about picking off your plants, some folk get pretty religious about it, but as I see it, that's what they're for. Especially if it's your first grow, or first grow indoors, and you have nothing to smoke. Gotta have me medicine!

There's been a drought here for ages, and what you can get is not good quality, and almost never grass, which I prefer. I got a clone some time back, and its her daughters that are the main focus of the flowering chamber. The original clone was a skinny, stretchy beast, while her daughters are much more vigorous, stronger. I kept one clone for a new mother plant, and put the old mother in the side of the flowering chamber, just to smoke.

The daughters are juicy and plump and tangy and fruity, and OH MAN! But the scraggly mother, while not as impressive, has a) saved me a fortune these last few weeks (drought leads to crazy prices for pot), and b) given me a good indication of how the daughters will be when they mature.

With maybe three weeks until harvest, and only a few branches left, I don't think she's gonna last the distance, but she's been a great smoke, and those I've shared it with agreed, too - I didn't tell them what it was. There's maybe a half a dozen nugs left on her.

But, I also put a couple of experimental bag-seed Sativas at the side, and they are starting to look highly snipable!

haha nothing wrong with snippin off the tree, i got two dumped off on me that hadn't had the best care a few months ago, both stretched to hell, about 2 weeks into flower. ended up scrappin the weak one (didn't look like it was gonna make it to matureity by any means) and makin some canibutter mmmmmmmm...

desparation leads to crazy things.

I spose I could make a new post in the grow forums to ask this, but the notion was sparked by this one.

Should I extend the flowering period of this plant because I'm taking off a bud or two a day while dry (likely I'll pick up today or tommorow). I'm not really noticing any changes in growth rate and I doubt I could smoke it all before it finishes if I tried. Will the trichs still mature at the same rate even if this does happen to be stunting the plant?

It shouldn't make much difference. It's best to harvest by examining the trychomes, rather than by the calendar, anyway. Just keep a close eye on them.

If you take buds from the top, you could then lower your lights to ripen the others more quickly. Just a thought.

you should really try to hold off from clipping sample bits of your plants for two reasons that when put together multiply their worth...

1, you're slowing down the plant growth by clipping bits off, so you're not just loosing out on the weight you've clipped off, not just the weight those buds would have grown to if left full term, but you're stunting the whole plant! so leave it and not only will you get much more bud, but it will be of higher potency, and the plant will be of much better well being and vitality, which whether you're aware of this or not, the happyness of the plant affects the quality, the niceness of the final product.

2, if you're not clipping bits off, and there's a drought, well done, that means you're "taking a break", and so if its throughout the entire duration of the plant's growth, that will completely reset your tollerence!!! wow! can you remember what it was like when you first toked! great jesus, shiva and quetzacotl! that's HIGH!

so combining these two... you'll be smoking maybe as much as a fifteenth as much to get the same high, and you'll have way more of it too! shit man... thats like potentially multiplying your entire effective grow value to yourself by 30 or more!!!

wow!

dont clip!

All true, and the reason I won't put sciccors near my main harvest (the flower bed that is the focus of my 12/12 area), even when the sampler plant is all used up (about a week from now).

I care about my plant's feelings, but this girl knew her fate before she entered the chamber, and each snip she has given joyfully, responding not by stunting, but by pushing the remaining growth more strongly. Todays nugs are really hitting the spot, I can tell ya!

My tolerance resets in about two days, mercury in the second house or something, and sometimes, bottom line, I gotta have my medicine.
