My view on this is if you need a piece of paper to prove your in love your going about things in the wrong way. That goes for everyone not just gays.
All this business is whatever for me. You go do what you do, just don't bother me , I'm smoking.

Studies are gradually picking up enough evidence to show that homosexuality is genetic. How could it possibly be argued that homosexuality is unnatural when it is embedded in our genetic code? Homosexuality has been present in nearly every culture since the beginning of mankind, and the feeling of homosexuality is embedded deep inside the person from birth. You're calling this phenomenon unnatural?
In addition, marriage predates Christianity. It's been a while since I looked at the stats but I think it was something like 400 years that Christianity existed without any incorporation with marriage, not to mention the thousands of years it existed before then. Yet when these right-winged discriminators try to find information about marriage, they look in the bible, where it states marriage is between a man and woman, and consider the situation solved. Sorry, try again. Like most conservatives, you accept lies as truth and truth as lies. Discrimination is very, very, wrong Edit: haha i don't think this makes sense i'm blazed |

I believe one of the bigger deals is the tax benefits that goes along with being married, and if gays arent 'legally' married or whatever you call it they arent benefiting like a hetero married couple would be

That is one thing. Married couples get tax breaks. Another, that I think is more important, is that if my girlfriend was to go into the hospital in a coma or something (knock on wood) her homophobic mother would get the right to decide her fate. Not me. Her girlfriend. Her life partner. The person who knows her better than anyone in the world. And the government takes that away from me. If we were to have one of us get inseminated and we have a baby, if something were to happen to the natural mother there is a chance the other will lose the child. Many states don't even let gay couples adopt each others children. They tear apart families to preserve their "institution of marriage" which is already pretty fucked up.

I wish that fundamentalists and Republicans just would stop calling us a threat. Oh, the poor white male majority! You'd think that they were the ones who grew up being treated like an outcast in their own family and nation. The ones who were told that thoughts that plagued their adolescent mind were sinful(whilst they futilely had tried to suppress them). That they are denied the right to have children, join the military, or make medical decisions for their partner. Yet they are under attack. Ugh. Stuff like this makes me want to just kill myself. |

The reasond why homosexual couples want to be allowed to get married is because for 1 taxes are cheaper when you are married, but also they want to be recognized as a real couple. Think about it how you feel if your marriage wasnt gonna be recognized by the law, i know i would be offended.

My wife has worked for a ton of different causes, one of which is gay rights. I didn't really understand what all the 'commotion' was about. After a few hours of her trying to pound the issues in my head, I finally started seeing what she was talking about.
She showed me a movie called "If These Walls Could Talk. Part 2" Probably one of the saddest movies I have seen. It's a movie with 3 short ( based on real life ) stories. One of the stories was about 2 lesbians who had been together for like 50 or 60 years. They had bought a house together, and lived in it for most of that time. Then one day one of the women was putting bird food in a feeder and fell. In the hospital, the staff wouldn't let the other woman in to see her 'partner' because it was for family only. After sitting in the hospital for about 10 hours, waiting to see her 'partner' she is finally told that she had died. A few days later, the dead womans family comes to the house, the women lived in for decades, and says they are selling the house and possesions. Since the house was in the dead womans name, it now belonged to her family. It doesn't matter that the woman still alive, payed for at least half the house, and lived in it for decades. So it's not just tax breaks and such gay people are wanting. They want property rights, be able to get family rates for insurance, and quite a few other things that we as 'straight' people take for granted.
