outdoor drying under a tarp is very common, not something I just invented, it works, I do it every yea. 2 or 3 weeks according to how dry you want them (not in the sun). They still need 2 weeks at home on a screen, then jars for a few months to be primo. This depends on the humidity there is in your area. I dry them for 2-3 weeks, could be less or more for you, but it is an awesome method for sure.

dry the buds outdoors under a tarp hanging on some wire. It'll reduce greatly the size and smell. I leave mine 3 weeks outdoors. The smell is almost gone when I drive back home.
I have to say this is a great idea. Ive hung one or two outside upside down in a tree a few times.. but the tarp idea sounds like a very good addition considering the work put in.. allowing longer time also. Do you try to hide the color of the tarp?

They dont get moldy under the tarp? I know you couldnt do that without mold developing here... What a waste if that did happen.

it is not a tent, it is a flat tarp, wire under, done deal
a friend of mine uses it in the UK in rainy weather, no mold. i use it every year, never any mold. There is excellent airflow as it is in the wind, in the open.
why do you guys talk about stuff you don't know about and never tried lol? just cause you never heard of it doesn't mean it doesn't work.

I used a tarp, then a roll of painters paper then put a tarp over , cinder blocks on the sides for airflow.... I just didnt want to sound like a dickhead shooting your idea down ... It may have worked for you, but you cant guarantee it for everyone...

If there was mold it's cause the mold was there before not because of the method. It is used in the Uk and works very well.
Once the bud branches is cut and it is not moldy, even if it rains, it'll dry with the air flow. Mold sets in on live plants, not drying ones. Then depending on how hot it is, you can leave it more or less.
the tarp should be slanted slightly so rain falls off of it. You can also make little ledges with some wire so rain doesn't get on the buds. Place it in a shady area.
It's on p 25 of last year's grow. Anyway it worked for me.

There's no need for anything BUT a tarp and wire. See the picture below it is very simple.
