I was going to purchase some nutes today my plants are about a month old and i'd like to start fertilizing them

i was going to go with the fox farm trio that seems to be the most popular, are there any other brands to look out for?

is the fox farm trio strictly for hydro use?

No, fox farm is for all around MJ growing. It's probably the most popular and widely used set of nutrients on this forum. I personally haven't used them only because of the cost. They are very popular products, give em' a try if you can afford them!

No it's not only for hydro use just make sure you get the soil ones..

Fox Farms is easy for your first time..just don't give it the recommended nutes it says I'd start off at a 1/4 - 1/2 and work your way up

fox farm is great... they also make granular time release product marine cuisine that i have been using for last couple seasons with great success

fox farm fox farm marine cuisine | eBay

it was told me by a rep that it is the same stuff they put into ocean forest premix soil plus a few other additives that make it an all round fertilizer for every phase of growth...

now if you use the recommended dosage it feeds for 6 months. i use less than half of the recommended dosage because my plants are not in the ground for six months ... plus using less than half ensures i get a good flush, because MC is not 100% organic.

if you want pure organic... i have gotten big buds using organicare PURE and PURE bloom granular... you have to top feed every three weeks so it makes the process more involved.

I use Fox Farm Trio and love them. I agree with starting slowly 1/4 or 1/2 recommended dosage. Some plants can handle nuts better than others. Amazon sells the trio for under $50. I have used the quart sized bottles and I get around 2 or more season out of them. So < $50 for 2 seasons of fertilizer to me is rather cheap :)

BTW they feeding schedule is not bad on their site and does work, however try to find what works best for your babies. I always start 1/4 first week. 1/2 next week. After that fertilizer every other watering with full strength. I find every other watering actually helped they grow more rapidl and decreases nut burn.

I used FF last year. It's ok but not the best. Its neon green chemical nutrients that are easy to use but also easy to burn with. I am going all organic this year and just bough some Roots Organic to try on the recommendation if a trusted friend. I'm using the Bhudda Grow veg. I also use molasses with every feeding, no matter what type of nutes. The plants LOVE it. :)

It was less than $20 for a bottle that should last me a while.

It does a couple things. First of all it feeds the micro organisms in soil so they can better feed your plants. It also has some immediately available nutrients in it like calcium and potassium. There are some really good articles out there about why molasses is great, but in simple terms it just is, lol. I have seen a huge difference in the plants I've used molasses and the ones I haven't. It's like giving them an extra spoonful of love every time you feed.

What kind of molasses should I get, and how often should I be feeding it to my plants

Make sure it's organic, black-strap molasses. I fed my plants last year a tablespoon per gallon during EVERY watering. However, I only used it while the plants were flowering. This year I may try using it during VEG, maybe every other watering.

This is the exact brand I used:
