Arrow Back For 09, New England Outdoor

Whats up GC
I'm back for another season up here in the Northeast and hoping for another great one. I feel much more prepared this year, but things are still kinda up in the air. At the moment I only have 1 plot ready to go with 4 holes (out of 5) filled in and fenced in. One problem with this plot is animals, particularly deer. Hoping they won't be a major problem, bought some fencing thats 4' high and hoping I will not have to change it. Besides the animals, its a nice spot, really sunny, hill top, and plenty of room for at least 9-10 plants. Also praying its out of the way enough to be left alone.
I'm using Pro-Mix Ultimate Organic (.04-.5-.03)? which is some great shit, has water polymers as well as mycorizzae (sp?) mixed with perlite, earthworm castings (1-0-0), lime and bone meal (4-12-0). Nothing like hauling soil up a relatively steep hill covered in brush in prickers to remind you how out of shape you are. Used 2 40lb bags so far for just those 4 holes
Trying to go all/mostly organic for this plot as well, have some Fish Emulsion 5-1-1 for veg, no organic fert for flower yet. If anyone has any thoughts on this its much appreciated. Have been looking into Morbloom 0-10-10, bat guano at different NPKs and fish/seaweed 2-3-1 or 2-4-1. Also have Single Bloom 3-4-7 and Jacks Blossom Booster 10-30-20 (non-organic).
All bagseed again cause I'm to poor to buy any nice genetics. Hoping to get another plot or 2 going as well. One being a swamp plot, probably in grow bags with cheaper soil. Big area, will aim for at least 6-10 in that plot. Also might be starting a small plot with maybe 5?autoflowers from a friend. Grew them in my SOG setup, will post pics here if I can. Won't be seeing these for a while..
Germinating/planting will take place asap. Nowhere to start indoors so have to start outdoors. Plan to start them in solo cups in milk jugs/plastic containers to protect them from the weather. Looking at the weather still night lows of mid to upper 30s, was hoping to have them going by 4/20 but I dunno.
Got a few random pics, of the area (panorama kinda) and the couple holes that are ready, and a pic of the swampy area.

Sorry for the long ass post, any comments/advice are always appreciated, would love to hear from ya anyway.

peace

Running Total Cost:
Soil - 6 ft total, 2 pro-mix organic, 2 MG cheap, 2 FF Happy Frog = 48$
Castings - 20$
Fencing (25ft) -20$
Seed supplies - greenhouse thing, jiffy cubes, seed starter mix - 7$
TOTAL = 95$

Re: Back For 09, New England Outdoor

Looks good, no hunters in your area? Those plots seem like they get plenty of sun, but how hard are they to get to?

For my flowering ferts I'm using a combo of Earthjuice Meta-K (0-0-10) and Budswel (0-7-0), organic seabird/bat guano and I'll throw in a couple drops of Superthrive every other feeding to keep the microbes happy and the trace elements abundant.

Good luck, one thing deer hate is shotguns, maybe you can eat some deer jerky while you smoke that good green you got from your plots!

Re: Back For 09, New England Outdoor

Thanks for stoppin in Firstimah. There is a place where people have/do? hunt a little ways away, more for birds I believe, noticed a hunter perch in a tree overlooking a swampy area. To get to the spot you either have to climb a prickly hill, trek through woods or cross a swampy area to get too, so hoping that will keep most people away.

Re: Back For 09, New England Outdoor

Hi Thepot, Looking good! You can always add native humus dirt (black dirt from decaying matter, trees etc...) just looking for it near your spots (hey: free), then add some powdered dolomite lime (use 30-50% of that dirt about) to raise the pH as that black dirt is acidic.

For stealth, if you're not 100% sure, maybe don't grow 10 out there. But with the swamp and prickies, you should be good to go. I'll be watching!

Hey Corto, nice to have you around. My thoughts exactly, definitely a good amount of room but after digging only 5 holes I figured that might be enough for now depending on how things work out. Always can put out more AFs later I guess. thanks for the tip too

Hey whats up the pot I see u said somethings are up in air i hope that works out for you. I too as you saw on my grow journal don't really know what to use for fertilizer during flowering either. I havn't had the time to price worm castings yet. Good luck i will be watching and be sure to toss some advice/love on my first grow journal "Wu-tang".

Re: Back For 09, New England Outdoor

You can use molasses (K) and high p bat guano (liquid to mix easier) for flowering. You need n and K (Potassium) for veg, N (Nitrogen) and P (phosphorous)for flowering as you guys already know!

Re: Back For 09, New England Outdoor

Haha thanks guys. Nice to have ya'll here

It is a nice spot, even to just chill and smoke (no leaving roaches!), can't wait for some nice weather.
Dug up another spot today on the side of a hill for some AFs/lowryders. Hopefully will have 6 or 8 going there, also now realizing I might be able to get 2 AF runs if I start the first ones early. Should be able to start another run as late as July 10 give or take.... The spot is about 2' wide by 4 or 5' long? Never grown them outdoors so not too sure on space.

more stuff to come!

Re: Back For 09, New England Outdoor

Nice spot TP!! And I thought mine were open lol (roughly 15' diameter). It would be nice to plant in the ground (to add stability) instead of the 2-gallon pots like I stated in my thread, but theres only like 4"s of rich dirt on rock ledge now with another 3"s of FF soil that Ill be adding soon. Ill keep an eye out for yours!!!

Good luck with this summers guerrilla grow in the short seasoned NE!!! lol I hope your girls, and mine finish before the first frost!

Re: Back For 09, New England Outdoor

Well, as of about 7:30pm I have 5 seeds germinating (paper towel method)
Weather looks great at least until Monday. Plan to transplant to jiffy cubes in this little plastic cover/tray thing then to solo cups.

However, unsure about going to solo cups to ground or bigger pots?? anyone? Hopefully will have 5 at the spot I've mentioned, maybe 10 more in the swamp plot.
Not really sure about what to do about males either.... plant 5 in the first spot and hope for females? I figure if some turn male can always transport more from swamp spot to hill spot, since they'll be in grow bags?

Finally have some evidence of life over here
3 of 5 have tap roots, another one on its way and the 5th is open and should be ready to go very soon. Looks like lows are climbing into the 40s too supposed to be in the 70s today
