According to what I've read in the way of opinions from experienced growers here and elsewhere is that there are arguments for and against flushing. Some feel it is essential to maximizing taste and potency and others feel it's complete hogwash. With that being said, I would suggest listening to the advice that makes the most sense to you. For me, the best (sensical) explanation of flushing I've been told is this.... The term "flushing" is a bit of a misnomer to begin with. The idea that you have to run this massive amount of water (most suggestions are 2-3 times the container size in water) through the container is not necessary. Adequate drainage is indeed important, but watering with excess to get rid of nutrients can end up doing more harm than good. "Flushing" really refers to simply not giving the plant any fertilizer or nutrients 1-2 weeks before harvest. This should force the plant to use up the nutrients it has stored up, and theoretically, by harvest time all nutrients will be used up and gone. This is supposed to keep the nutrients (and the taste of them) out of the final product....those tasty nuggs we all know and love. So, in order to flush, (if you want to that is) simply stop with any ferts. or nutes. 1-2 weeks before harvest. You don't necessarily need to run 2-3 times the amount of water through it to do it properly. However, if you want to listen to the other side, don't flush at all. The only way to know for yourself is to experiment with the process. For example, if you had 4 plants you could flush 2 and not flush the others. Then simly smoke buds from both sides and see if the flushing matters to you. Either way, that kind of testing can't be all bad can it ?I hope that helps and good luck with your grow
