For starters using fungi to provide co2.
I don't know much about these things really but I did learn from watching Teen Jeopardy last night that one of the aspiring contestants has a vision of study to produce O2 via algae of some sort. He certainly seemed to understand what he was talking about. Interesting.
Break it down for us

Allow me to explain a little deeper as I rip the steam roller ...
Alright, so there's a way to supply co2 with the use of yeast. Yeast take sugar and produce alcohol with the byproduct of co2. You can use this co2 for your plants. I've also seen fish being used to freed plants, and vice versa.

Dude no offense but that is rather pedestrian is it not? When I mentioned Teen Jeopardy this dude was talking about self contained CO2 generators using fungi/bacteria that could be used for space suits, space travel, etc. Small scale, ultra efficient. BTDT with the yeast. Thanks.

I believe it's called aquaponics, using fish to feed plants.
That link is exactly what I'm talking about:)
