Wow, that was a little slanted!
Ms Mair's article is obviously a blatant attempt at sensationalism. She attempts to muddy the image of marijuana by mentioning its name then talking exclusively about the problems caused by other drugs.
When she does talk about marijuana at all she does so simply to lament its use by "young children" and then to inexplicably say that more adults using cannabis has pushed Britain to the top of the European league for cocaine use. Seriously?!!
What she doesn't mention is Legalization makes marijuana harder for children to obtain, not easier. We all know you can't enforce a minimum age on something that's illegal anyway! And exactly how has downgrading cannabis led to more people taking harder drugs? If anything, there's an inverse relationship between the amount of cannabis consumed and the use of other drugs.
And no ma'am, we don't all know deep down that "legalizing drugs would eventually lead to a far greater problem and would be a terrible curse on society". That only exists inside your head.
Good attempt at maintaining job security Ms Mair, lousy attempt at factual, unbiased reporting.
