Bassists?

Any other bassists out there? I am. I don't play guitar, but I'm in a band with just a guitar and bass. We play all sorts of stoner type songs. Fun stuff. Anyway does anyone else play bass?

I've got an Ibanez SR300DX I think. I like it, it's nothing too fancy but it does have active pickups. I like the thin neck too.

Right now the songs we play are mostly the guy who plays guitar's songs (he used to play solo) and some Beck covers.

I play a Cort 5-string. I don't play bass in any bands. Just on my solo project. I play guitar in a few bands.

How's it playin' with a guitar and no drums? I couldn't do without the drum groove...

Way back in 4th-9th grade I played the stand-up in my school orchestra's... I also played bass in some bands, but have always been way more into guitar. I use my electric bass mostly when I am recording my stuff... Sometimes I'll jam on the bass, but I am definitely guitarist..

i'd like to think i'm proficient on bass.. i have a different style than most bassists.. i play in a metal band but we hardly play anymore (waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!) (!!!!!!)

i play guitar too but i get stuck playing the same things over and over.. i need to find good bands to listen to from time to time to keep my shit fresh.. but i love pink floyd, and bluesy stuff from the beatles, clapton, led zeppelin, and such (oh and i love king crimson)

It's different, I can say that. It's strange but the guitarist is mostly a rythm guitarist so I'm the one playing the riffs with different timing and stuff. It's fun though, we're mostly a hippie-jam-band duo, not so much an actual band. But I like it a lot though, since he's doing the rythm and singing, I get play lots of different styles and stuff and have fun with it without worrying about staying with the drum (although that would probably be easier ) or keeping rythm.

That's funny that you want one. I happen to own and play a Geddy Lee Fender Jazz Bass. It's the best purchase I've ever made. I wouldn't trade it for anything. I can't recommend this instrument enough.

I'm the bassist in a band that plays mostly classic rock covers, but we compose anything from blues to metal.

Have any of you other bassists come across this strange phenominon (sic):

Some women think bassists are *really* hot. For reasons I've yet to understand.

I've come across quite a few girls who, for some reason, find playing the bass to be really hot. I don't know if it's the deep vibrations, or the fact that if the instruments were penises the bassist would have the biggest, or what, but it's so strange to me. I'm not talking like a passing interest, I'm talking like the infatuation that the Bartender girl in "Bad Santa" had for the guy in the santa suit just becuase he looked like santa.

I don't think basses attract women any more than guitars.

Actually, yes...I've talked to many girls and they think bass is way more manly an instrument than all other instruments...

But usually it's the lead guitar player who stands in the front of the stage and gets 100% attention during solos...I've had my foot on the monitor many times...they love it (I hope )
