Death of Alternative Rock in NY, a plea for help

I know all of you do not like alternative rock, and I dont really expect you to care much, but imagine if this was done to your favorite station. Today WXRK K-Rock based in NYC changed its format from a mainly alternative/punk rock station to a rock variety format (classic rock, punk, metal, grunge, middle age rock, etc.). K-Rock is bascially the only alternative rock station in the NY metropolitan area (the closest I know of other than them is based in Hartford, CT). So now instead of working in a market they have monopolized for a while now, they are switching to a format already saturated in this area. There is already one of the better classic rock stations in the country here (Q104.3), and a mish mash rock station based in Long Island (WBAB 102.3). Now my favorite genre of music is rarely to be caught song by song on different stations. What the hell? This makes no sense, not even on a fiscal standpoint. I come here to ask that the people that live around me in the NY metropolitan area that are fans of this music let these idiots know that we want our damn radio station back. Its not fair. Not all of us have iPods or MP3 players, or even cd players. I do, but its a pain in the ass to work. Im going to be letting my feelings known. I hope I can get some support from my fellow people of the plant. Please help!

Awww man, i'm real sad to hear that. I'm from central Jersey and we get reception from 92.3 down here, too. The same thing happened to FM106.3....it was an AMAZING local station featuring only modern rock, but it got bought up by the people who own NJ101.5 and changed format to adult alternative...basically goo goo dolls and shit. Then it happened again down here at school. I go to U of Delaware (close to philly) and our only alternative station here, Y100, switched formats about a month or so ago to rap, and it breaks my heart. Clearchannel, Radio One, and all those other conglomorates need to suck it.

MyPetStone, I live 10 miles from the city and obviously i too get reception to krock, they have become ridiculously gay and play really shitty music, i dont know what kind of music you like but they need to be playing more nirvana, nine inch nails, system, metallica and stop playing pussy shit, i dont know about you all but i hate the Linkink park vs. JayZ and all that greenday they play on 92.3, tell me what you think or some bands u like

104.3 used to be the ILLEST rock station, back in '95. i think thats when they switched format.

i remember they didnt censor their music, it ruled.
