Recording High

How many musicians here record while high? How does it affect the process, not just cannabis either but other drugs as well. Tell me your experiences.

One of my memorable ones are i finished a song mighty quick on adderal, it turned out good too.

Re: Recording High

I prefer not to be while recording. It messes with my performance. I like jamming high though, just because I feel like it conjures up ideas easier.

Re: Recording High

I personally think recording high (weeeeeed) negaitively impacts the recording sesh... unless its a less complex genre. I do drum&bass, and trying to put together beats while I'm high or playing the keys just screws me up. And the people I've recorded, well, they have trouble staying on tempo...

Now dexin while makin musics is great... but thats just my opinion...

Everyones effected differently, go get high and record. Then you'll know

Re: Recording High

The Beatles did a good amount of recording high during certain years, I think it's hilarious. On the anthology albums a lot of the demos are just full of hysterical laughter, often the result of cannabis though sometimes not. I think it really depends, obviously sometimes it can make you not as good, though other times it can inspire you and really make you bring out your fullest

Re: Recording High

Cannabis= great to jam on, good for getting production ideas for recording but not to accualy do the process of playing parts unless you just want to record a free form jam.

Mushrooms= hard to play, I kept forgetting i was making the music and it sounded like it was swirling all around me. Not my favorite musically creative drug.

lsd= about the same as mushrooms.

Opium= good if your the producer of the recording dealing with a bunch of idiot musicians who don't understand how the recording process works cause you won't get pissed off at all.

Re: Recording High

I love recording high. Whether it be a vocal part, a drum part, or just working on a beat/sampling stuff. I have more creative confidence i guess, things just flow better. For instance, i couldn't get this sample to synch up with my voice on this new beat i was working on recently, but the second i smoked a bowl things clicked and bboooommm, it was done.

Re: Recording High

Yes. I love it. I don't got proffesional equipment, just a tape recorder, I don't know if that makes a difference. But usually me and some friends just get fucked up outside and use are guitars as drums and do tribal chants.

Re: Recording High

i never record high. i tend to make little mistakes easier. that's why i like blazing for jamming strictly, because mistakes don't matter in a jam session
