The Post-Rock Appreciation Thread

So, any Post-Rock music fans out there? I love to smoke a few bowls at night with my studio headphones on and just relax.

Some of my favorites are Godspeed.Y.B.E, Mogwai and right now I'm going through a God Is An Astronaut phase...I'm really into the "All is bright, All is fragile" record.

This is my current favorite song on the record.

I doubt this youtube clip is going to do the song justice, audiowise. I'm listening to this at high quality from a cd, with studio headphones on so it sounds amazing. Very well produced record.

Also, check out the group ALASNOAXIS for jazz musicians playing post-rock/instrumental stuff. You won't regret it, if you can't find some I can host an mp3.

Re: The Post-Rock Appreciation Thread

Last year I saw Russian Circles with The Daughters and they put it fucking down. I split a fifth of whiskey with 2 friends of mine and I had never heard Russian Circles before and I was blown away.

Last night I saw them again, with only a little bit of whiskey and a whole bunch of weed and I wasn't let down. Russian Circles again completely blew away the bands before them (this time it was Coliseum and Young Widows, and Young Widows suck by the way).

I got to meet the guitarist both time and he seems like a really cool dude. The first time I saw his pedalboard and immediately sounded like a fucking guitar tech nerd because he has SO MANY GODDAMN PEDALS. This time I knew he wouldn't remember me so I just went up him to say, "Yo, your band goes hard as fuck."

Also a big Explosions in the Sky fan. How Strange, Innocence and Those Who Tell the Truth... are great albums. Not very familiar with the post-rock genre as a whole though. Any recommendations?

It definitely has, just not in the near past.

Listen to each video that has been posted and you'll get an idea as to what Post-Rock music is.

I'm not exactly familiar with which bands are more popular in this genre, but i know Godspeed You! Black Emperor is a big one. Mogwai as well. God Is An Astronaut and Toe are two really good bands that stand out from the rest.
