I'm not really psyched about it really, Metallica are too far gone. I was intriged when they announced that Bob Rock wasn't going to produce it and instead enlisted Rick Rubin who is imo a great producer. But then the description they gave about the new sound put me off; "the link between ...AJFA and the Black Album". Oh dear oh dear, all that says to me is that they are trying to replicat the old trash sound but still keep it commercial as fuck. Not good.
Plus supposed album cover looks fucking SHIT. I still will see them when they come to the UK tho, they still kick arse live. Just I've lost all faith in them as a recording artist. Last edited by Silent Jay; 07-18-2008 at 08:00 PM. |

The day that never comes is very similar to fade to black. Except fade to black beats it no matter what. I think the new album will be really good honestly. I think the drummer or guitarist from guns n' roses listened to their demos and claimed its gonna be a good ass album. Like Lars let him hear em and shit. Also the album title talks about how as life goes on you get close to death. Basically saying that death is a magnetic because you get closer and closer to it as your life progresses. Thats pretty much what James claimed.

You can find the album if you look hard enough.
I'm with the others who think that Metallica should tour and only play songs written before 1994. They shouldn't produce new music anymore. They're a legendary band, but they're doing nothing to help their reputation by pumping out derivative crap. They already have very little credibility with this generation's metal fans, and this album will do nothing to help them.

Nobody is missing much. Not so technical as before. Riffs are too simple.
Sounds more like a Rock n' Roll band trying to sound heavy.

I really have little interest. And lost interest with the Black Album.
Was into them when "Ride The Lightning" was their newest album. Saw them last supporting "...And Justice For All". Like others are saying.. They continue to tarnish their own reputation. |
