I am a huge NAS fan...

I am a pretty big nas fan, I even have his first album on my wall. The only thing is, am I the only one who thinks his new album is terrible? I mean, aside from "Breathe", the rest of the album is either clearly masonic (LOL JAY-Z KANYE) or just completely out there.

Now that I come to think of it, "Cant Stop Us Now" is pretty good, too. And that's it. Nas...Dissapointed me.

+rep. Glad to see you're not a dickrider, just a fan. He was clearly at his best on Illmatic. To expect him to be that good on all his albums isn't really fair. But HHID and Ni-gger (WTF? Censorship my ass, can't say ******) were sell outs. He just lost it. His old stuff, awesome. Purple is one of my favorite songs ever, I Gave You Power was mad creative, he's got plenty of good tracks. But he's gone now.

as time advances the world changes, illmatic is his best and a hip hop classic, its imagery is great.

I couldn't give my opinion on Nas' new album(I'm still waiting), but I think it will be good. I heard the production sucked.

Yeah it's hard for him to top Illmatic in my eyes, so many great tracks on that album.

I want to check it out, just because I'm a huge Nas fan. But his albums haven't been all that great since the oldies. God's Son was pretty good, but the last two were pretty bad. Some really hot tracks, but nothing like the old stuff.

Rap albums are really dissapointing right now, Carter 3 wasn't even that hot. I'm hoping The Game can come through.

You gotta look at it kinda like this -

Nas, Hov, Wu - All these dudes - they're all getting older. That's not to say that they're "Old", but its just growing (or perhaps "grown") up.

They can't rap about the same things they used to, because they aren't in the same place that they used to be. As you grow older, your mindset changes, so of course the rhymes do as well.

A new direction is all that it is. I haven't heard the album yet, but I heard the mixtape was pretty good.

To whoever said it's nothing like the old stuff: I don't think rap will ever be "like the old stuff" again. The focus seems to have changed. It used to be the rappers were respected for being..well, rappers. Nas is a great example. Rap used to be about lyrical composition and flow. It's sad that today it comes down to who has the most money and can make up the best little dance.

EDIT: I actually have an old tape that has all of Nas and Jay-Z's beef tracks with each other in order and some interviews and stuff from back then. I might upload it if anyone is interested.
