Sorry to get your hopes up, guys, but no one knows when - or even if - that Roxy DVD will be released. You can see the copyright on that trailer is 1999.

I lurk at the Zappa forum occasionally, and there are threads from 2004 where people are convinced it's coming out a few months from then. The Zappa Family Trust doesn't seem very good at releasing things from the vault in a timely manner.

Please Miss Moon Unit, can we have the DVD?

Yeah, there's a lot of shit going on, the family is pulling all sorts of youtube stuff off the site, I guess there is some infighting? I tried to post the Titties and Beer footage that was on, and it said the family had taken it down.

I remember reading about this film, Roxy and Elsewhere, it has always been a favorite of mine. You're right Skydog, it truly was a great ensemble, probably the definitive "Mothers of Invention" line-up, they did a lot of the signature studio albums in that form as well.

Guitarists that I saw playing in Frank Zappa's lineups were...

Adrian Belew
Steve Vai
Ike Willis
Warren Cuccurullo
Ray White
Jeff Simmons

Not a bad little club to be a member of...and there were more, I just didn't get to see them.

How about Drummers?

Chester Thompson
Terry Bozzio
Chad Wackerman
Ralph Humphries

So many great musicians got their start in the Mothers...

Remember the pop band Missing Persons? I saw every one of them perform with the Man, Mr. Zappa, and then go write insipid pop songs that sold millions! That singer, Dale Bozzio, is the same girl from the song "Wet T-Shirt Night", from Joe's Garage! That's Terry Bozzio on drums, Patrick O'Hearn on Keys, and Warren Cuccurullo on guitar. Funny fuckin' band!

I can't believe Terry Bozzio in full '80s mascara

Oh Punky! I can't stand the way he pouts....'cuz he might not be poutin' for meeee!

Don't forget Lowell George, who was alleged to have been kicked out of the Mothers for writing "Willin'", which contained drug references

Zappa is awesome, I just got to see Zappa Plays Zappa and it was awesome! At one point during the show they had a conversation between Cartman and Mr Mackey (sp?) the counselor from south park and at one point mr mackey offers Cartman some LSD, the whole crowd went crazy. Definately one of the best shows at the festival.

<object width="425" height="344">The old days re-visited, I noticed this little youtube gem still up and running... from 40 years ago, in a german club, the band just messing around. Cool ass shit.

Quite an array of Mothers in this one, I see Roy Estrada, Jimmy Carl Black, Motorhead Sherwood, Don Preston, and is that Ian Underwood?

The GrandeMothers? I've heard they are phenomenal, has anyone seen them?
