But absolutely the most Kickass rocker of all time award is Keith Moon's. Not just because of his enormous energy and talent, but just for being Keith Moon. All the time. He never stopped entertaining, even in his death. What a fuckin guy! John Entwhistle had the prettiest right handed bass technique I had ever seen, and still makes my top ten. Baba O'Reily is maybe the best rock anthem ever?

Love 'em. I've seen them twice now in concert. My dad is one of their BIGGEST fans. he has all kinds of vintage The Who memorabilia, has seen them sooo many times, and has lotys of pictures with him and the band. I love the Tommy rock-opera. Live at Leeds is a great live CD. Anyways, I was pretty psyched to see a "The Who" appreciation thread. Good call.

Keith Moon was good but cocky...and he was the one who said Led Zeppelin would bomb like a "led zeppelin."
I love some songs, especially Baba O'Riley, Won't Get Fooled Again, Behind Blue Eyes.

Had to bump it up with some more bomb ass performances....
You should get the Kids Are Alright DVD and watch all The Who you could ever stand... A Quick One (While He's Away) Live at the Rolling Stone's Rock N Roll Circus The Seeker (on some cheap foreign show, bad audio)

The Who were one of the first bands I ever truly fell in love with.
They're just one of those bands who are totally sick in every aspect. John Entwistle brought the bass to the foreground. Pete Townshend was one of the greatest guitartists of his time. Keith Moon needs no introduction.. and Daltreys voice can send shivers down your spine. I love the emotion they set out on stage. The havoc: smashing guitars, exploding drum kits... total chaos! How can you listen to "Wont get fooled again", and not get goosebumps? |

I've been listening to The Who for as long as i can remember, my parents brought me up on music like this. I saw part of the VH1 special but had my dad record the rest. I just think its amazing how much talent they had in a time when every band was emerging. The influence is just amazing...

Watching The Kids Are Alright will make anyone appreciate The Who. TS.
The Woodstock and Leeds performances are the best. I've always loved The Who, but I've found that most people don't appreciate them fully simply because they haven't seen live footage from those two shows. The Who's catalog of studio stuff doesn't stand up against the other popular bands from the same era, but they truly ROCKED in their time. Keith Moon and John Entwistle rocked it the fuck out, man. Very influential and amazing musicians.
