For the first time today, i ACTUALLY HEARD the grateful dead

Today i was jamming to cumberland blues europe 72 addition and i, for the first time, i actually heard the dead.

Not in the first timer numerically, but for the first time spiritual. I can see jerrbear playing his guitar into my soul. Just as him and bob weir harmonize through my heart.

It is them who are truly, GOD.

yeah they even admit it lol they talk about how sometimes they would get up there and be tripping so hard they would just walk off, or stand and stare at the crowd, or sit there and make weird noises with their instruments

They were for hippies that were transending to the rock realm, they also sound burnt out now.

Not the most skilled musicians? Couldn't even play? I beg to differ. Although they have had some bad shows here and there, the bulk of their live material is full of talent. I don't understand how anyone with any musical knowledge could deny that they're one of the most musically complex and diverse rock bands ever.

The dead are my all time favorite band... Even their "bad" stuff (notice quotes, I dont think any of its bad) is good.

You just need to look at it from the right perspective, imagine being that far into a trip and being up infront of 40000 people and knowing they're there only to hear the music you make.

Gotta be an unbelievable feeling.

Damn I wish I was old enough to have seen them at their high point

I must spread rep before giving to you again, but well said. Really listen, and I mean REALLY listen to the dead, every time you listen you can hear something you've never heard before.. A nice mandolin lick, or a chord in the background you never noticed, and every time you hear one it will make the song that much better, and make you realize (well me atleast) how unbelievable of musicians they were.
