and quite a few lyrics have drug referances, under the bridge is about being alone shootin up in the ghetto right after scorin

anthony has done pretty much every kind of drug, been back and forth from junkie and clean several times. has claimed to be clean since '01 or '02. dont know if i believe it, maybe he still blazes.

john frusciante had been as far into addiction as possible without dying, then turned it around and claims to not do any kind of drug at all anymore. i kind of believe him, he hit the point where there's no reason to do anything anymore, and he gets high off of his music, you can see it

flea never got too far into drugs, he experimented just like anyone else. maybe still blazes but i met him a couple of years ago and i didnt get that kind of vibe, he seems to be into his family enough where he stays away from it all

chad is notorious for his drinking and smoking, not like an alcoholic or whatever but he likes to party you know? i dont know about the other drugs

i got most of that from scar tissue and then their interviews and kind of pieced together what seems likely.

Yeah they aren't really potheads. They've all smoked weed, but as far as I know none of them use drugs anymore.

Anthony has struggled with heroin and coke addiction all his life... he was on drugs for a while, clean for Blood Sugar Sex Magik, then on drugs again through One Hot Minute up until Californication. He had one relapse after that, but he's been clean ever since.

John was clean until he started using drugs after they toured for BSSM, then he quit the band and got addicted to heroin for a while. He burned his house down along with all of his possessions and almost died. Dave Navarro played guitar for the band until John rejoined for Californication. He's been clean ever since then.

Flea has used drugs in the past and maybe had an addiction at one point, but isn't nearly as heavy of a drug user as Anthony and John.

Chad drinks a lot, has probably gotten high from time to time, but no hard drugs.

Their original guitarist, Hillel Slovak, died of a heroin overdose in 1988.

As mentioned before, Anthony wrote an autobiography called "Scar Tissue". It's really an incredible book. His dad was a drug dealer back in the 70's, and Anthony used to help him smuggle pounds of weed through the airport and such. I think he was like 10 years old or something the first time he ever got high. His dad sold drugs to rock stars and other famous people in L.A. clubs. The book goes on to talk about how the band got started, Anthony's struggle with addiction, his various girlfriends, and plenty of other fascinating stuff if you're a RHCP fan.
