Question How many people realise the importance of music?

Say what you want about it emotionally, culturally, etc...

Music is essentially the best example to a human of the natural flow of energy, and how it moves through our world, which is occupied space (obviously physics will differ in outer space.)

Dropping a stone in a pond and watching the waves, are a visual representation of the same laws that govern how energy moves and fluctuates.

An earthquake is a sometimes terrifying example of the SAME laws.

Ever hear of resonant frequency?

You can use this premise to either "liquify" steel if you fine tuned it... destroy a building, again, another extreme example... or you could use it to do what all music basically does, give living beings the desire to nod their heads, and or feel emotions "at a beats notice."

It's such an essential part of the world we live in, and yet it's used as a way to become popular or just for money... and some of the music that has been made, I'm sure even mother nature would frown at.

Treat it with respect, it's in the very roots of you and everything around you.

reading your thread reminds me of the 80s rock videos where they deflected bullets and blew holes in walls with the power of their music.

anyone and everyone can express their soul through color and sound

does that explain how important music is?

I dont think theres enough people in this world who give a crap about things like this. Like said..throw a rock in water. Watch its waves. The littlest things in life seem to enjoy me.

t3h bump.

I think more people should give this thread a thought or two ^^

Edit; I mean, really... c'mon. All your atoms are moving, creating subtle frequencies. Music really IS part of what makes you up, as a material being.

YEEEAH!. Although, the significance of sound is completely different to the significance of music.

Music is an orchestration of sound. an art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color. music is expressive- whereas sound is just vibrating particles-

Heh, I have to say I whole heartedly disagree.

A simple walk through a forest dispells that way of thinking, in my opinion.

I have walked through a forest. i live in ireland ffs . and i enjoy the everything about it - I am simply saying that music is different as it is constantly evolving. It define's different era's and cultures all around the world. Its the most basic human language, which anyone can speak.

You can enjoy the sound of nature in the same way, i guess. But music is just more significant to me.

The question is; are the differences worth even considering? If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, then one would think music is in the ear of the beholder, correct?

Just like DimeBag can be quoted saying he loved guitar, even if whomever playing totally sucked, he just thought it was all beautiful.

Well, someone who sucks at guitar will probably not be putting in any of the basic characteristics of music as YOU define it, harmony, rhythm, etc... but to some, it is still music.

All music is to me, is whatever hits my resonate frequency for that time and place.

May that be a slightly silly, if not plain ole' metaphorical statement? Probably, but that's just how I am.
