DISPATCH:ZIMBABWE JULY 13, 14, and 15!
For those of you who dont know about dispatch, they were an independant (as in never signed with a record label) east coast band that started up in 1996, and then played their final show in 2004 at the Hatch Shell in Boston Mass. The show was a free concert to their loyal fans, they expected maybe 10,000 people to show up...110,000 fans came in from all 50 states, and 20 different countrys to watch what was supposed to be their final performance.
Last year the band started tossin around the idea of getting back together to play a benefit concert for the country of Zimbabwe. They chose to do it at Madison Square Garden in NYC...They started by announcing 1 show on the 14th, and it sold out in less than an hour, so they scheduled 2 more dates and sold both of them out too. Me and a friend of mine flew out to NYC from minnesota, went to the show on the 14th, and had the absolute time of our lives. it was honestly the most fun thing ive ever done in my young life. the concert its self was both an absolute blast, and an eye opening experiance as to the social injustice and extreme poverty that is being experianced in that are of the world. First, I invite you all to check out all or any of these sites to learn more about the band, theevent in NYC, the things going on in zimbabwe, and about the Elias fund started by dispatch, to see what you can do to make a difference! Dispatch Music DISPATCH ZIMBABWE The Elias Fund Second, I'm just wondering if anybody else went out and saw an amazing show and how your experiance was! |
