vibes 07 was awesome. here are some pics and whatnot from the weekend......
oh....., i was definatly wrong about the fuzz. there were a lot of 5-0s but i think they were basically there just for emergencies and intimidation.... i forgot seaside is a public park. the last 5 or so years, the vibes was at a private place where the security was hired and the cops would only be called in for emergencies. i only heard on one arrest and it was a dude who had a warrent from another state and the fuzz ran his plates. i definatly smoked stupid amounts of pot... and a little bit of the deamsters (dmt) directly across from the cops pimped out bus and right in their veiw.... my buddies pops works backstage and said the cops only gave out tickets to staff who were smoking herb on wednesday...... too many hippies to bust anyone/everyone anyhoo..... hope u all had a good time. i know i sure did. did those of u looking for fungus come across any??? i sure did ![]() my set-up. right when u come in off of park avenue, where the huge concrete pillar/gate is... walk through, take a left and i was the first set up on the right.... in the corner of the fence across from the ambulance/police station. HOW MANY PEOPLE SAW MY ALF FLAG???!!!??? i got a shit load of comments about the man, ALF. keller williams (left pic).... keller and bobby (right pic).... i hope u guys caught keller's set cuz it was fuckin amazing.... especially when bob weir came out and they jammed out to a few dead songs. THERES A DOOBIE IN MY POCKET!! concert field (left) and the trippy clown mouth gate... walk through the mouth and bang a left and my set-up was 30 seconds away....... in the corner of the fence... once again.... with ALF hope u stoners had a good time this year..... i think theres a good chance the vibes will be back in bridgeport next year. which is awesome cuz i was able to leave like 5 times and come back within 30 minutes or less. i actually bounced friday night (sat. morn) to go get herb from my normal dealer and had no problem returning. hopefully people besides me and my friends realized they could walk 4 blocks to a quickie-mart on park ave to get cigs/ice/soda/whatever for MUCH cheaper than inside. 3$ for a small bag of ice..... 1.50$ for a slightly larger bag at the store. 7 outrageous dollars for cigs....... 5$ at the store (marb reds). 3$ for a 20oz. soda......1.25$ at the store. its called "park avenue market" and its right across from UB (university of bridgeport). cant wait til next year!! hope to see u guys at moe.down 8 and harvestfest!! -cmr-

This post is going to be long, I can already tell. If you have questions about the Vibes, I suggest reading the whole thing....
Yes, there are pipes for sale there. Most festivals have kiosks and tents set up filled with glass pieces.....pipes, beads, paperweights...etc. But, Connecticut is lame and the venue is public so technically pipes aren't allowed to be sold. But they are definately there. I know for a fact that an awesome local headshop is going to send a couple minions to walk around with 10-20 pieces in a briefcase. Some venders don't even care and just have a small set-up in the tent. Its a stupid rule and its not really enforced. You will get away with bringing in weed and pipes super easy. The things they look for the most is glass alcohol containers, kegs, nitrous tanks, weapons and fireworks. And they tend to frown upon things like keys of dope. They half-ass search through just about everything though bring in.....especially bags....I've been to plenty of festivals where the security guard pulled my bowl case out of my backpack, opened it, took the pipe out to look inside the case, put the pipe back in, and closed up my backpack. Just don't be a fool about it. Hide your shit. The Vibes is somewhat differnet than most festies now. Since Seaside Park is a public venue, 5-easy is right there inside the festival walking the beat. But don't let that stop you from puffing. My tent set-up last year was DIRECTLY across from the area where 5-0 and EMS had their set-up.....and I sure as shit smoked me a loooooooot of reefer. Right in front of them. Its a well known fact that 85%+ of the people attending the show will be, at minimum, smoking ganj. And 60%+ are going to be on some sort of hallucinogen. The cops are not going to be able to do shit......simply because of the amount of people doing it. They are more interested in people acting like obnoxious assholes. For the fuck of it, lets throw out an example from last year.... It had to be after 1am because Ratdog was still jammin, and had been for a good 2 hours. Me, my ex, my buddy and his girl were walking down the street (Grove Rd. for those of you familiar with the area) that goes to the big concrete gateway-thing at the end of Park Ave. This is a very public area.....the four of us each had a huge blunt lit and glass bottles of Twisted Teas (gross) in our hand. Walking along with/near us, were 2 hippies that were obviousy tripping nuts...although neither had anything illegal exposed, they were loud and stupid and the definition of a hot-box. So as we approach a few blue-fools, they go right for the 2 dumbasses.....even though my friends and I are blatently breaking the law, and we were dressed the same way....like dirty hippies. If the cops busted anyone for herb, they would 1, have to do paperwork... 2, leave the show....and 3, they would have to apprehend ever person they saw smoking/holding. The second they would return to the Park they would see another pothead and the cycle would repeat. So.... Yes. It is very easy to smoke there. And yes, it is easy to get herb and paraphernalia inside....unless its a 2+ foot glass roor. Yes. They do sell pipes...but 1, they aren't supposed to...and 2, thats not the main focus of the festival. The main focus of the festival is the music. If you are into jambands, it is an amazing show. Last year, to name a few, there was Bobby and Ratdog, Keller Williams, The Wailers, Strangefolk, Assembly of Dust, Les Claypool, Donna Jean and the Tricksters, Dickey Betts......thats a killer fuckin line-up. In addition to the music, there are many vendor tents set up that sell everything for the hippie lifestyle.... Ooodles of clothes (hemp, patchwork)...one awesome brand is Hooked Productions. They make fucking great clothes. You can find tapestries, posters, blankets, baja hoodies, anything patchwork, anything tie-die, mountains of hippie-girl shit, a bunch of Exchel (spelling) cases/pouches/purses, music, hats, sandals, JEWLERY (everything hemp, custom wraps, tons of glass pendants)..and more. The Vibes is cool because they dedicate a large tent to art. Usualy the main focus is Jerry Garcia, but there is a shit-ton of amazing art. 2006 Vibes had a section with all Alex Grey artwork. In my post from a while ago with the pictures, there is a shot of a long table that was covered in blotter art. (art done on sheets intended for LSD.) And, very important, the food. Good lord, the food. Pretty much everything you can think of...vegan meals, hotdogs/hamburgers/pizza, sandwiches, ribs, steak and cheese, fries, smoothies (you gotta try the strawberry/banana), tons of beer and other drinks...and some other shit too. All in all its a great weekend. I personally like it better at the previous venue in Mariahville, but (for me) you can't beat the current location. Instead of driving 3 hours and 15 minutes, I drive 15 minutes. I can leave to go back to my house which was a life saver last year. And what was really kick-ass, I left to pick up some amazing haze because of the lack of headies at the show. The bud I went and got was in the same town, cheaper than anything there, and much better................. It is ALWAYS a good idea to bring some of your own headies!!! DO NOT depend on there being good bud there. Theres a good chance there is, but sometimes it can be hard to find, overpriced, or just plain shitty. Certain festivals are better for herb than others. For example, the NY Harvestfest had a ton of headies the last 2 years. My theory on the headies at last years Vibes (or lack there of) is that since people heard the cops were walking around inside and that its a public venue, they decided not to bring what they normally would have and figured they could find something inside. I'm hoping that the majority of heady dealers realized its more chilled than they thought, and bring nice amounts of nice herb this year. Most Vibes attendees have gone to a Vibes before. My best friends father used to work for Terrapin (company that puts on the Vibes and Camp Creek) and now he vollenteers at the show. I did one year and it was worth it....because they pay for you to get in and you get to camp in a designated section. If interested, you should go to the Vibes website and fill out the Vollunteer application....the sooner the better. You can do anything from taking tickets, directing traffic/parking, garbage pick-up, hospitality tent, or food/drinks in the VIP tent. For one reason or another I seem to know a lot about festivals....especially the Vibes. So I would be more than happy to answer questions about the Vibes, or festival attending in general. I've forgotten everything there is to forget...and I've realized everything that should be brought. The Vibes was the first festival I ever attended when it first came to Bridgeport like 9-10 years ago. I've tried to go every year, but shit happens. Shows I go to annually are The Gathering of the Vibes, All Good, NY Harvestfest, moe.Down, and (if they do it) Camp Creek and Garden of Eden. Some festivals I've attened randomly are Bonnaroo, Langerado, 10,000 lakes, Snow.Down, and Mountain Jam. I reeeeeeeally want to go on the Jam Cruise. Its basically a festival on a cruise.....good ass bands there too. This year I already have tickets for Rothbury and Mountain Jam. Rothbury is going to be incredible....too many great bands to list them all. All I have to say is Dave Matthews, Widespread Panic, 311, Snoop Dogg, Keller Williams, Phil Lesh and Gov't Mule.....with a lot more bands. I love festivals. Its an excellent way to just kick back and fuckin relax. I personally love jambands, and camping. Sitting at a festival in a folding camp chair, with good ass music in the back ground, a good looking girl you just picked up, a phat bowl of some sticky, a nice fire going (many festivals don't allow fires) and a nice warm bed made up in the tent..................that is where is want to be right now.
