Stop hatin'!. haha I used to not like 311 as well, I'll admit it but all of friends went into conversion mode and it worked. But calling them wannabe Sublime is moronic, theyre really nothing alike at all. The thing that really brought me over to the dark side was that every song is so multi-faceted. like they start off light and trippy, then boom the guitar starts pumpin' SA starts rhymin and the whole song changes.

For all you people that don't like them, listen to "Sometimes Jacks Rule the Realm" the whole way through.

Don't you find it a slight bit odd that Doug Martinez (member of 311, and latino to my knowledge) is a member of the band? If they support the KKK it's quite ironic that Doug Martinez would be a member of 311. (making the assumption you know the history of the KKK)

How the hell is 311 a Sublime rip off? The only reason Sublime is famous is because of whats his face being drugged up and dying. I've been listening to 311 since grassroots, and that album was done in 94' so STFU with ignorant comments saying they ripped off sublime. By the way, i'd say without whats his face dying, 311 has done WAY more career wise and thats a FACT. Also you gotta be fucking kidding me... 311 racist? As far as whatever eldude-arino said (you must be about the 16th person on this board with a lebowski name) if their mainstream shit isn't their best, then why isn't their best shit their mainstream? It's not my responsibility to dig into the annals of a band that I can't stand to find some type of redeeming quality. They only good thing 311 ever did was the bassline to Amber.

now, their singles are mainstream for a reason, it's what the public wants to hear, it's what'll sell albums... i'm not telling you to dig deep and listen to all of their albums, but why judge a band (especially so harshly) when you don't even know their work. i'm a huge incubus fan, you can't tell me that a song like pardon me or stellar sums up their sound, or their ability as musicians

i'd much rather listen to a band like 311 who's singles get played out, than any of the current garbage coming out in alternative rock...
