God Damn Deftones are near amazing in everything they do based on my personal opinion. That man's voice flows similarily to sand descending in water, smooth and relaxing. The drummer plays the snare and bass like they are screaming at eachother. The guitarist grunges on his guitar like he is commanding an army of samuri in fierce and bloody battle.
Current favorite Deftones tunes, Battle Axe, Bloody Cape and Feiticeira. Sorry just had to share that with you all you wonderful people.

Depends, obviously every ear and high is gonna tell a person differant... given that...

-Atomship is great! They have trancy melodic rythms. Check out "Mothra"
-Dream theater is a TRIP to try and keep up with. Very complex on every instrument. Listen to "Hells Kitchen" cranked up with some good speakers/headphones, youll get it (especialy musicians)
-Fear Factory's Remanufacture is crazy if you havnt heard it but have heard a few of their other songs

But true "Trippy" rock is slowly dying (sadly). Im glad Tool (especialy newest CD) has a lot of Pink Floyd influence in it.

But thanx for the suggestions on music! Will check it out....

ya tool is by far my favoriot band! but I really do like the deftones song "passenger" because maynard sings in it ha ha.

isis, team sleep, minus the bear, these arms are snakes, the mars volta, sigur ros, witchcraft, the black keys, high on fire, mastodon, the flaming lips. my point is i could go on and on about bands way better to listen to high than tool. i like them but they aren't the best by a long shot.

uh SYSTEM OF A DOWN perhaps nine inch nails as well. but based on personal opinion i like an equal amount of rock and trippy riffs and sounds. Tool rocks as well

Yeah, I love SOAD

But the best recent rock band probably has to be Rage Against The Machine. Incredible musicianship, stage presence, and lyrics. Every single person in that band is beyond gifted at what they do.
