Favorite Trap Rappers

Discussion in 'Music genres, Bands and Artists' started by YoungDirk, Apr 25, 2010.

  1. So for all you trap fans out there, who's your favorite right now?
These are the guys who mostly rap about the dope game, so I'm not including guys like T.I. who went commercial. A lot of rappers talk about serving (Game, Rick Ross, ect.), but I'm talking about rappers who still working in the kitchen. Obviously there's others (OJ, Waka Flocka, Boosie), but here's some of the well-known. If your man ain't here, add the name to the list:

    Gucci Mane

    Yo Gotti

    Young Jeezy

    Clipse

    Cassidy

IMO even though Gucci is the face of the trap, Jeezy's my man, one of the best rappers out right now. Everything he puts out is fire. Yo Gotti on the rise with that straight cocaine rap.

  2. Gotta go with Jeezy, he just keeps putting out hits. Im soo ready for that Trap or Die 2 mixtape and TM 103.. Im with ya on Yo Gotti too man, him and Jeezy are my favorite two trap rappers by far, love that Cocaine Muzik 4.

  4. Isnt t.i. considered one of these rappers? and if he is he should be on this because (i know it sounds too mainstream and shit) he is the king of this genre in my opinion.

  5. Other: Raekwon :p

  6. haha not exactly the same sub genre. Ninja asian vs Trap

  7. well considering what the "trap" is, i'd say raekwon talks a lot about it lol

  8. yea true, its a southern term and everything though. And if im wrong sorry im very high.

  9. lol true

  10. T.I. definitely popularized the southern trap movement (Trap Muzik duh), but since Urban Legend he's gone completely commercial. Don't get me wrong, he's great, but he's moved on from the trappin days, like most great rappers will.

Lol I got mad respect for Raekwon the chef... He's on another level tho. He's got more of the mafia/businessman style like Jay-Z than your typical dopeman.

East coast "trap" music > southern "trap music"

    lol

  13. Haaha yea right.. I mean do you kno what a trap is?? But aint nobody fuckin with Jeezy when it comes to trap music anyways, no way no how.. And Jeezy really did it big, BMF homie

  14. You just lost all credibility. :(

  15. How you figure? I aint saying he's the best rapper, Im just saying when it comes to "Trap Music" Jeezy is putting out the best songs and has been since 2006. All of his music is based on his days as a trapper one way or another and he really did the shit, he aint faking like some of these rappers today. Yea T.I. was probably the first to call it Trap Muzik, but Jeezy took it to another level with his "Trap of Die" mixtape in 2005. People forget so soon.. He was selling that thing like an album, I mean it will always be one of the top mixtapes of all-time...

But so tell me how I lost "credibility" (like I even give a damn about credibility on a weed site) by saying nobody's fuckin with Jeezy when it comes to "Trap Music" right now?

  16. How the fuck is gucci not runnin away with this

  17. I am not into trap music. Especially southern trap music. I just dont like hearing about that stuff. But if I had to choose one I would choose Gucci, simply because he is so damn humorous. I mean Jeezy is probably the better rapper, but the shit that gucci says just makes me smile.

  18. The Clipse absolutely shit on all the rappers you listed. I wouldn't call them "trap rappers", but they do rap mostly about selling dope. Lord Willin', We Got It 4 Cheap Vol 2, and Hell Hath No Fury are all amazing albums, Pusha and Malice are in the upper echelon of hip hop as far as I'm concerned.
