Ya I feel like a lot of upcoming Dubstep is going to be geared more towards the UKG, Deep House, and minimal side of the scene. Good producers have been pushing some of these sounds for a while now, but it seems their influence is finally starting to spread on to bigger and newer things. You should check out some Future Garage if you like these sounds.

I had nothing to do this morning and had some thoughts going thru my head, so as a warning, this next section is a bit of a rant. If you don't really care much about dubstep or you're only in here cuz you heard dubstep has cool sounds, then please dont waste your precious time. To start, I'm only 19 and have been listening to Dubstep for only 2 years, so I'm no expert myself. This entire post is based only of my knowledge and personal views of what Dubstep is.

The midrange wobbles may've sounded cool and were/are a big hit, but as the fad begins to lose it's heat, I'm hoping more fresh and innovative talent will be noticed and emerge. Personally, I enjoy listening many different types of music. What I like most about Dubstep/140 is that it's the most versatile genre of music I've discovered. So much variation from one record label to the next. Although, many people, if not most, would probably disagree about that. Whether they listen to Dubstep, or just hear it out at parties. Truth is, many people probably aren't aware of a large portion of the music being released today as "Dubstep". I believe at this point in time it seems like the only rules for dubstep are 140bpm and bigg bass.

I do get a bit agitated at the fact that a song can come out and sound cool and lots of people are diggin it. But next thing you know, almost every new producer you hear is trying to imitate that sound and be the next big hotshot. Some even begin looking at it as a way to get famous, and well known, maybe even rich. Not that any of that is bad, but they forget to keep it solely about the music when it comes to producing. When someone is trying to produce music with a money making mind set, its not about innovation, but rather what they know for a fact people are going to like and buy. And from that point on, every song in that genre/scene of music begins to sound real similar. "Filth" or Brostep, or whatever you wanna call it is just a sub-genre that emerged from Dubstep, even though most people think that filth IS Dubstep.

So sometimes when the "elitists" get moody and complain about people listening to all the big names and popular tracks, it ins't because they're just a bunch of pricks who think their music is better than everyone else's. Consider the fact that Dubstep was still a real small scene emerging from some of the other underground scenes of the late 90s. For Dubstep, at that point, it was the sub bass and generally chill vibes of the parties that brought everyone together to listen to this new music and smoke, drink, chill, whatever.

As time went by, the scene had been progressing and everyone was hearing about this new bass heavy music called Dubstep and wanted in. Since Dubstep was played at a slower tempo (and usually in half time) than standard techno, producers had a lot more space for big, heavy basslines and to work on synthesizing unique sounds over the beats. Wobble, which was already fairly popular in many genres at the time seemed to fit in with the 140bpm tempo perfectly. Once wobble had taken over, it seemed like just about every producer was using it and building their songs around it, which was pretty cool in some ways, because it was a new sound and there was lots of experimentation for the producers at first, and every now and then someone would pull off something cool and original with it.

The only problem was, while the wobble-filled Dubstep, known as Filth, was growing on international levels, the producers who were still trying to keep it fresh and innovative were getting basically no attention, because all every one wanted to hear was wub wub. If people weren't looking for new Dubstep, they probably wouldn't find any other types of it, unless randomly stumbling across it on the internet.

So as big as Filth may've gotten, and all the lengths it's went through as a scene, remember, its just a sub-genre. (Not that any of that genre bullshit matters you're actually listening to it). When the guy who's been listening to Dubstep for years, hears everywhere he goes about this brand new genre, Dubstep and hears all the top Filth producers tunes at more and more parties, he realizes, that although its much different than the scene was, say 5 or 6 years ago, this is now what Dubstep is considered. Whenever he tells someone he likes Dubstep, most people think he listens to Filth. So it's a little normal for that person to feel a bit angered.

Anyways, in the end what really matters is that music is music. If someone thinks something sounds good, then it's music to their ears, no matter how shit the sound may be. No one's trying to necessarily bash on people, and tell them that they're personally unworthy of listening to real music, or shouldn't be allowed to listen to what they like. Anyone who flat out does that is a prick. It's just annoying when you try to share a tune, from an ace producer, one you know hasn't even been posted yet. And someone says; "Wow, this shit sucks man. Its fuckin boring. Borgore is so much filthier"

It's just music. Theres not always needs for drops, excitement, crazy sounds, or anything. Music can be made with anything. Choose what music you like and dislike, but never decide to only listen to one genre, cuz when its about the music genres mean NOTHING. And never judge genres based off a few songs you know. Over-exaggerated genres are are just ways for corporate asshole who raid the scene, trying to make it more appealing to certain crowds (tools) and make money off it.

I just think it's important to realize that when people make comments on how generic, or retarded a song sounds, they aren't really trying to personally rag on you. They're more than likely just angered that while one mere part of their music scene is getting excessive attention, the rest of the producers who are trying to push things further, are for the most part left in the dust.

Anyways, agree with me, disagree with me, ignore this, whatever idc. But if you respond be civil. None of those fuckin internet tough guy battles in this thread lol. This post was already long enough tho, meh.

But as I said earlier it seems all that is finally beginning to change for the better. If you actually just read all that, you're either (A. One of the few ppl I expected to read it or (B. Hopefully learned a few new things.

    Thanks for readin..

  14. That song was intense.

I've just started getting into dubstep but I find it hard to find a lot of songs I like.... there's just a lot out there and a lot of different styles it seems. I come across random tracks here and there that I like but can't seem to find even one artist who I like overall. Any suggestions? I wish I could tell you what I look for, but all I know is I want some fuckin wobble.
