Dubsteps been around for almost a decade now...

Skream and Benga are my two favorites, but right now I've been getting into Dubstep's predecessor, 2-Step.

Actually, the term was first used in 2002. Also, the first Dub Step All Stars cd came out in 2003....

but anyways.

Here's my favorite Skream Mix from Pete Tong's Essential Mix series:

Either way, I still enjoy jungle/ early drum'n'bass MUCH more.

I'm not being mean, I'm just trying to correct your erroneous statements  You made a statement that the music started in 2004, when in fact, I have a release with the name Dubstep from a previous year.

But hey, I was friendly too! I even showed you my favorite dubstep mix!

People should know when and how a music started.

Here's a pretty fresh new cd from Benga. Really good quality, once again, turn that bass UP!

yo any of you guys like Burial? I've been bumping that Untrue record for a while now.

Last time I got to see my girlfriend, the first thing she did was hand me a packed bowl and gave me a blowjob. That is true love.

Yeah Burial was the dude who got me into dubstep. You can really hear the transformation of speed garage/2-step into dubstep through Burial's tracks; the swung-16th note percussion and use of vocals really mimics that old sound.

You should check out Burial's self-titled album...that shit bumps real hard. Here's my favorite song off of it. The vocals are sampled from a Kode9 & the Spaceape song (you should check them out too!). The riff is in 11/16, which is very unusual for a dubstep track:

I'm so glad someone actually knows their shit. Although the term was first 'coined' in 2002, people like Plastician and El-B started to come out with a sound as early as 1999.

garage and dubstep are very similar... people argue back and forth on wether skream, benga, digital mystikz, coki, kode 9, etc really were the makers of dubstep. but they really were, they created it.. and i like dubstep a lot more than garage, until recently... with all the mids coming up and the bass becoming 2nd in attention in all the dubstep tracks coming out now a days. but skream, benga, and some others are keeping it real. seen some old school dubstep at raves and its nuts

Bein' a musician is a hard life, man. It's a fuckin' trip. Makin' music in the money business is about as hard as it gets.

Best taste on Grasscity.
