Hayao Miyazaki Films

Lately Ive really been getting into Miyazaki. His films are great, sober or stoned. I recently blazed and watched Princess Mononoke. AMAZING. I'm not even into anime and these movies totally kick ass. Anyone else?

Re: Hayao Miyazaki Films

I've only seen Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, and that Lupin the III movie he directed, but I loved them all!

Edit: Wait I forgot I saw Princess Mononoke, that was amazing as well!

Re: Hayao Miyazaki Films

yeah I remember watching My Neighbor Totoro when I was a toddler. Then when I grew up one of my friends had a pirated collection of studio ghibli films and I bought it off him for 5 dollars. No doubt he made profit on it, but since it was all of the films I decided to watch them all. Princess Mononoke seems to be the most action intensive out of all of them though. Nausicaa and the Valley of the Wind, Castle in the Sky(Laputa), Porco Rosso, My Neighbor Totoro, and Princess Mononoke are probably my favorite out of all Studio Ghibli films. There are plenty more films though!!!!!!

Porco Rosso was bomb. So was Nausicaa.

Ponyo was pretty great too...

Re: Hayao Miyazaki Films

my neighbor totoro was that movie i would watch over and over again when i was little. my little friends would come over like,
"let's watch a movie! i brought over the lion king!"
and i would be like
"FUCK no, we're watching totoro."
ahhhh...good times.

laputa kicked ass too. it kinda scared me though.

Re: Hayao Miyazaki Films

I would honestly watch the Japanese version with subs. Way better stoned, hah. Howl's Moving Castle is probably my favorite.

He just came out with a new one, I have yet to see it

Re: Hayao Miyazaki Films

I havent seen all his work but the stuff I have seen was outstanding. You don't have to be into anime to enjoy Hayao Miyazaki's films.

Re: Hayao Miyazaki Films

I've seen all but two or three of the works he's done and a handful of other Studio Ghibli productions. Hands down, greatest director/animator alive. Many consider him the Walt Disney of Japan. His films are the best I've ever seen. My favorite thing about his films is exactly what you brought up; you don't have to be a fan of anime to enjoy. At first glance the films appear to be for children, but upon closer inspection they are filled with controversial topics about war, life, morals, etc...

Re: Hayao Miyazaki Films

Princess mononoke should be mandatory viewing for youngsters { in the hope thayt they will return to it again later in life}

take miley cyrus

take her out back and shoot her

and replace all her footage with mononoke

"MY warriors! They've returned to me from the land of the dead!"
