Re: unforgiven. 1992. talk to me

I wrote a paper about this film once and how it was the brilliant end to a psychological mythos known as "the West" and how Munny was a symbol of how Western society claims to be Individualistic, but we all still just get sacrificed to Capitalism blah blah blah blah blah.

Really was a pretty damn good movie though. I think it had me right from the beginning when he can't get on his horse. : -(

"Clint Eastwood (Munny): Hell of a thing, killin' a man. Take away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have.
Jaimz Woolvett (The Schofield Kid): Yeah, well, I guess he had it comin'.
Clint Eastwood (Munny): We all got it comin', kid. "

Edit: To be a bit more helpful, here are some things your professor probably wants to hear.
Idealism of Youth Vs Wisdom of Age
History Vs Reality
Focus on the Sheriff's house he built. Tons of symbolism to be mined from that.

You can PM me if you need help. I have fantastic BS abilities.

awesome, the house stuck out to me a lot

its hilarious how it leaked as it did. what about the biographer, he seemed to be only happy once he saw who munny really was, like he finally found his true anti hero for his story. I would love to read your paper

It leaked because it was poorly put together, an analogy for the "house of lies" he built for the biographer. He's as poor a carpenter as he is a liar...ect.
Wish I still had it for you, but that was three years and two computers ago.

Re: unforgiven. 1992. talk to me

what do you have to say about this movies use of

cool colors (blues, greens, beiges) to represent either, water, shade, shadow, coolness, calmness

the movies use of intense colors. Keyword being intense as its my vocab word (talking about color)

and the movies use of shadow(s)

Re: unforgiven. 1992. talk to me

It's been to long since I last saw unfortunately. The only thing I can really remember on that subject was there the scenes with blood were rather dark, with the blood being rather prominent. (specifically in the beginning with the girl that gets cut up, and I think the lashing afterward)
You could probably work a line about the "vibrant prominence of the blood on the screen being like the violence's mark on the memories of all involved in it".
If dull earthy tones are prominent in shots of Munny when not involved in violence maybe you can mention how it's like that because "once he's taken on the sharp distinct memories of that violence he becomes unable to see anything else as being equally relevant in his life. Every other aspect of who he is finds itself a suppressed, barely noteworthy part of his existence."
