Shug's First Ever PC Grow

Hey Guys,

Had a bunch of spare time and computer parts laying around so I said why not?


I germinated a few bag seeds a couple days ago and one finally popped this afternoon!



Unfortunately, my Fox Farm Ocean Forest isn't coming in till Wednesday, so I'm forced to used this stuff, hope it's good..



Either way my baby is planted!!



I'm also currently building a new 2 inch taller box. If anyone is interested, I can make a step by step tutorial.

Its only 16 inches tall. But I plan on using SCROG n LST.

Still gonna be a bit tight isn't it? What are you planning to do about the smell?

Somewhat.. but I won't Veg for too long so she doesn't get that big.

From what I read about PC Cases.. You veg to half the height you want your plant to get, then flower the rest and she should double in height. If I do it correctly, I should have enough space.

I've seen people successfully grow in 14" tall cases.. so I should be ok.

Oh as for the smell..

I got this idea from someone else, it would look better if I had my new system up and running so you can see.

Anyways, I will have a false rear wall to prevent any extra light leakage/smell. This will have 1 of my exhaust which will Carbon Filter screens. On the other side of that, I plan on making a DIY carbon filter made out of Atrium Grating and some pantyhose.

Once this false wall is completed, I will take my 2nd exhaust fan, and have it inside the mini room I just made and exhaust all the air that is blowing out of fan #1. My 2nd fan will also have a filter on it, but if the smell isn't so bad, I may keep it the way it is for stealth reasons.

Be glad that FFOF didn't come or you would have made the same mistake I made a few weeks ago. That Ocean Forest mixture is just a little too potent for a seedling. Starting off in that soil and you may risk running into nute burn very early on in the plants life (like I did ). You may be better off keeping the seedling in the soil that you have for the first week or two and then transplant her into the FFOF soil when you feel shes well established enough to take on those nutes.

I was afraid of that too, and it seems the instances of FFOF burning young plants is rare, but I did take the precaution of adding a generous amount of organic perlite to mine to get it a little less concentrated (and add great drainage as well)

I just finished my second box.. and of course, I was in a zone building it, I didn't take pictures.

Anyways, where I work I have access to many computer supplies. Especially old CPU chasis that were going to be tossed away. I managed to also get a few 7 plug surge protectors and a bunch of fans from the same CPU's that were being tossed and a bunch of 12v adapters.

This probably saved me about $100.

I then went and bought the following:

Reflectix Reflective Insulation - $10
Super Glue - $5
Magnets - $10
3 x 23w 6500k Bulbs - $10
3 x 23w 2700k bulbs - $10
Tape (electric, duct, and double-sided) $10

So in all I spent about $50 for materials on 2 grow boxes. I'm planning on making my smaller, original grow box that is 18" high, my vegging box. And my 20" newly made box will be my flowering box.

Let me know if you guys need more info.

I can be happy to annouce the baby girl (hopefully) is doing great. She's getting bigger by the day. I topped off her pot with a little bit of the FF Ocean Forest. I'm hoping the inch of FFOF I put in her pot will get her growing even bigger.

I had problems with temperature. When it was in my room, the temps reached 90-100 degrees!!! I got worried, so I transfered her to my attic, where last I checked about an hour ago, she was at a cool 70 degrees.

I've taken daily pictures, and will post them all up in a few days. Basically 7 days after she sprouted.

Also, stupid question.. But how much should I be watering her? I only watered her when I noticed the top inch of the soil was dry. But how much do I put in there?

Thanks tre! Good luck with ur case too! Id start a journal so other peeps here can help u while u grow. Many good people with good advice on here. I've been reading so many journals just to help me get started. Is this ur first grow?

I would probably suggest bagseed for now. That's what I'm doing.. I figured until I successfully grow bagseed, I won't buy the good seeds yet.

I have read tons of grow journals from rooms to closet to pc grows, but i will still continue to learn from then til i can get my first actual experience with a grow. I have trimmed for a friend of mine and have also tended to a plant in other stages of its life but this will be my very first "through" grow:D:D

At least you have some experience.. I saw my buddy up in wisconsin one time growing in his closet.. but I could only peak in.. was very interested in growing back then, but though the money spent might be too much, until I heard about these pc grows. Now I have 2 up and am looking to male a 3rd for the hell of it. Id like to grow grow grow! As I smoke smoke smoke! A lot

Just a fair warning tho.. when u start, you'll get addicted. I check on my plants 3-4 times a day just because of excitment! Lol

haha yeah growin is addicting i havent even had a full grow cycle yet and im addictied lol, i have soo many hours of reading i just need to get into the situation to put it into use lol.

Very nice! Getting an early start to your degree huh? haha! Ya I'm totally addicted. All I do is read journals from other growers. Learning the in and outs of growing. Well I was going to wait 7 days, but I went home early to find a surprise.. but first...

My new Flower Box!


It's actually 18 inches tall, and my vegging box is only 16", but it should get the job done. As you can see in the rear is 2 exhaust fans with my own version of a carbon filter. It's fairly cheap. I took a 90 degree duct along with some fiberglass screen (aluminum screen works as well) and just had the screen secured to the duct. I then poured activated carbon and just used foil tape to tape it up to my exhaust fans.

I feel like it's working, but won't know till my little girl is flowering. I'm about smoke a bowl and blow through and see if it smells like anything.

wow yours are going a lottttttt quicker than mine, been since the 20th (when i started the seed, sprouted probably 4-5 days after) but it still looks like yours between days 1 and 2, except a lotttttt longer stem

Do you have pics? We can compare day to day. After the original growth spurt, I actually put an inch of Fox Farm Ocean Forest, thinking the little extra nutes would help.

Nice flower box, i am interested in seeing if those type of carbon filters would work. I am gonna be moving into my room tomorrow and i will be able to get a good look at my closet and everything!!:D

money's gunna be tight soo my whole op is gunna be budgeted only will cut corners where the can be cut tho.
