1st Grow Using 35 gallon Sterilite bins, CFLs, Reserva Privada Sour Kush & Skunk #1

Hello all!

First off, I am a noob so try not to be so hard on me. This is my first grow and I've been keeping track of it on rollitup.org but I am thinking of just keeping tabs here since they are having troubles with their servers. The Seedsmans Original Skunk #1 is 20 days old, and the Reserva Privada Sour Kush is a day behind at 19 days old. I am using two 42watt 6500k CFLs and 1 32watt 6500k CFL. I will be adding more lights as I go, probably mix in a few 2700k. The sterilite bins are 35 gallon, lined with car windshield reflector made with mylar, am using a 4x4 PC fan for exhaust, a fan inside to circulate air, plants watered using rain water and tap water left out for 24 hours, and just switched to FF Grow big 6-4-4.

Sorry if I overloaded you with pics...a lot of things have happened...I don't even have the energy to mention them all lol. Hopefully I'll get some tips / advice, and I'll definitely begin to put updates here. Thanks for reading.

I agree. They look nice. Only potential problem I see is light leaks. Those are some big holes on there that will let a lot of light in when it should be dark.
Do you keep it in a closet or something that can be kept dark?

Damn, that looks awesome!! Ive been thinking about doing the same exact thing with 55gal sterilite bins. How did you wire the pc fans, as I have no experience with electronics or wiring pc fans?

Thank you . Nope I don't keep it in a closet...but it goes through the dark period while it is actually dark outside. I rarely turn on the lights in the house, and when I do, I use a dim light that's pretty far away from the box (light over the stove). If I can't get the cycle to line up correctly with when it's dark outside, I'll make sure to cover the holes!

Nice! 55 bins would be great! If I had seen those, this box would probably be significantly bigger lol. Wiring the PC fan was pretty simple. I was scared to do it at first because I rarely do anything with wiring, but it was very simple, and got to feel proud of myself . You can cut the cord on a phone charger, strip the wires, connect them to the fan, then cover with electrical tape. There are a few videos on youtube that show you how, easy as can be! I used an AC / DC converter instead of a phone charger by the way, because of course I couldn't find an old charger! It might be better anyway because PC fans are 12 volts and a phone charger is usually only half that...end up missing out on some power.

I can't spell when I'm high

Fimmed the Sour Kush 2.5 days ago. She was getting significantly taller while the skunk just seems to get bushier!Pinched off about 80% of new growth with nails. First FIM, we shall see how it goes

Fox Farm's Big Grow...but only have used it once. Before I was using 1 part urine to 15 parts water after doing some research on urine and organic grows. Switched because my diet has been sucking lately.

Here's a little update on the plants....they are looking pretty good. Haven't seen any signs of nute burn. Am still juggling the watering though, still doing just a little too much. I water before the lights go off and sometimes the Skunk is a little droopy after the lights come on. It corrects itself by the time I wake up the next morning (lights out from 6pm-10pm, 20/4). The FIM site on the Kush looks good, but then again I am a noob and what do I know . I see some new growth though, so that must be a good sign! Will post a pic of it next time I post an update (probably 2 days from now).

You might want to put a seperator in the middle of your container. Im sure the Skunk will be pickier with the nutes than the SK.

Your own urine? Ive never heard of that before. Im intrigued, and a little disgusted at the same time. Was it not working, and thats why you switched to the ffbg? Your setup looks awesome too. Im def ditching my stupid tent when my super skunk plant is harvested, and switching to what you've got, except w/ 55gal bins, like I had said earlier.

I switched to Fox Farm because I've been high as hell lately (came up on a fat sac) and eating tons of crap that is not healthy... when you use your urine, it's best to have a healthy diet with the right amount of nutrients for your plant.

Yea urine is gross, but did you know that if you were somewhere where you couldn't get to a source of water, you could drink your pee to prevent dying of dehydration? Discovery Channel ftw It is sterilized by your kidneys and is good for 24 hours...assuming you don't have any bacterial infections. It also has a good presence of Nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium...not to mention micro-nutrients. Many people swear by it...and honestly, look at my plants. There isn't anything wrong with them at all. Google it, and the only bad things you hear about it is people saying it's nasty to think about...but the data shows it is natural and very healthy for plants. They yield your plant the same or sometimes even more than regular fertilizers. There is some study or another with the evidence but I'm only a little bit of a nerd, not enough to memorize that shit lol. But yea, google, I put the link here for you...check it out:

Now that you say that, it makes sense, cuz I have a plant in my backyard that I take leaks on and its always been a crazy thick plant with badass little red flowers all over it. I guess its from me pissing all over it for 3yrs.
