http://forum.grasscity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=863740&stc=1&d=1334949787

Soil: Fox Farm Ocean Forest

Nutes: BMO organic (came highly recommended & super cheap). Made by some sketchy guy in a basement though haha.

Training: Maybe scrog if I'm running out of space but since it's an autoflowering type, I'm just gonna wait and see.

Yes, I agree that not having a dark period seems unnatural and therefore unhealthy for plants.

However, here is my reasoning: there are two types of plants, C3 and C4 plants. C4 plants require a dark cycle because during nighttime, the stomatas open up in order to absorb CO2 and convert that into a C4 carbon molecule that they will use later during daytime. These plants are more efficient because they do not lose as much water through transpiration during the day because their stomatas are not open during daytime. This is why weeds will always take over a lawn without proper care (grass is C3 vs C4 weeds).

C3 plants on the other hand, do not have a dark cycle because their stomatas are open during daytime. They do have cycles that do not require light but these occur both during daytime and nighttime. Cannabis is a C3 plant. Therefore, should theoretically yield more 24/0. Some people say yes it does and some people say it doesn't. Without an unbiased independent study, it's hard to say really.

And cannabis ruderalis (found in autoflowering plants) are found in the arctic circle where daylight sometimes last for 23 or 24 hours during summer and night lasts for 23 or 24 hours during winter.

And, I forgot to get a timer which is also a good reason haha :D

Lol, no timer is always a good reason to do 24/0, no doubt the plants will do fine under 24, but my personal opinion is that the plants are happier and do better with some dark (temp changes, healthy stretch....). Anyway, good luck with your girl, I'll be watching.

Thanks, DJ! that means a lot

Day 5:
Gave her very weak solution of organic nutrients (5-2-5) while watering yesterday. Should be alright according to the feeding schedule and by how she reacted (no burn and definite growth).

Also swapped out one 23w 65K cfl for a 42w 27K bulb. It raised the temps a little bit but it's alright. I just ordered another 92mm fan to plug in later. Should help.

Also guys, I just wanted to throw out a warning. I'm pretty sure that looking directly at the CFLs is bad for your eyes. According to bongsauce,

edit: HI! I wanted to edit into this post and warn everyone that cfls can be very bad for your eyes after prolonged use. I've always liked to sit and chill and stare at my plants, after a few months I noticed the cfls taking their toll on my eyes..harder to focus, terrible nightvision, headaches..etc..In some of my earlier designs I had an "open light" setup which let light into my eyes everytime I looked at my plants (stupid!) don't do that you guys. Everything I build now has some sort of shield that hangs down from the top or the lights are recessed a few inches into the top. These things are brighter then you think and can emit some uv also....and...the ratings for the bulbs, lumen output etc, are measured at 1 foot away from the bulb, as micro growers we generally grow and operate closer than that.

I usually keep sunglasses nearby now. It's almost as bright as looking at the sun I think.

I think i'm seeing beginning signs of heat stress on your leaf fringes, might want to raise the CFLs a tad. Besides that, looks great.

Thanks Budderball!:metal:
This is my first grow but I have grown cubes before. I think that was less complicated in a way.
And I wish I had the chance to try some Budder! 99.7% THC level is just mind-boggling lol. Ive only seen it sold in Canada though.

I was scared the lights were a little too close but I wanted to give it the most light. I did raise them like an inch. What gave it away? Was it the curling of the leaf edges, sort of like rippling?

Exactly. I was just battling the same thing, which is why I noticed it. Check out my thread to see what it looks if you don't catch it so soon.

Riiiighhht, that's why I asked what he is using for the smell, i will be growing in a pc with just about the same setup, just i will build my plant like lego blocks to reach the light. I just need something for the smell, I was thinking of Ona gel and maybe a makeshift carbon filter. welcome to grasscity btw.
