Marijuana and Social Anxiety

Recently, things have gotten real hard for me. I have ADHD, suffer from depression, and Social Anxiety Disorder. The ADHD and depresion have pretty much been taken care of, but the anxiety is still there. Because of this, I will start to feel hot and sweat sometimes just at the thought of getting through the day. When I get to my first class for school, I'll sit there for a few minutes and then get hot flashes and sweat heavily. It sucks real bad. I do my best to slow down my breathing and try to relax, and I can usually cool down. It'll happen multiple times throughout the day. Sometimes it just happens randomly, even when I'm at home.

Well, thankfully, getting high before school helps a lot. I feel so damn well and relaxed, and in combonation with my ADHD medication, I can get through the day perfectly. I was at a party before, and I didnt really talk to anyone or do much until I got high. After that, I started playing the guitar infront of everyone and sang songs.

In my experience, marijuana gets rids of my anxiety, and I do not panic what so ever.

I just want some input on this as to what you guys think. Thanks.

I think its all in how you think of your smoking....Like i oftentimes smoke just to get away from people so i dont have to be sociable...Other times i smoke to be more sociable..It can have any affect you the smoker wants

Xanax is a very dangerous drug, which is why I'm on Lexapro. I've only been taking it for about a week on a half dose, and it hasnt done much yet, so I will start taking the full dosage tomorrow.

What I meant was, marijuana, for me, is a temporary relief from a anxious situation.

The magical herb has many wonderful uses, and it's awesome that you have found a use that suits you well.

Even when you're not high, though, just remember that people will still treat you the same way as they do when you are high. In other words, realize that you use the herb as a way to "enter" social interactions, and it doesn't necesarily dictate how the people you are socializing with treat you during your time with them. Basically, try to enter those situations while you're not high, knowing that it will be the same (enjoyable) as the end result.

I'm on lexapro to for my depression. I wasn't sure of it at first, but i've been on it for about 4 months now and aside from the initial side-effects its really done wonders for me. Before it I would get really really depressed, and the weed just made me happy for a little bit. But now, i'm pretty cheerful all the time, and the weed still makes me happier, its just...happier-er ^_^

Higgy I'm real glad the Lexapro has helped you out. I'm wondering, do you take the 10mg dosage?

And roosk, I will try to use your advice. I will try to get to keep the thought in my head that I'm still being treated the same no matter what, and that I should just stay comfortable in the environment what situation I'm in.

I'm thinking about getting Xanax XR or Buspar. But whats so bad about Xanax?

me i got add adhd depression some bi-polor disorder and like social anxiety kind of mostly becouse most people around hear are rich mainstream coperate ass holes but like im off all that medication that messes up your nevrous system i do take medical supllements and grow some medical herbs myself ganga is my main one though cuz its just so awsome pluse it works wonders for my nausea becouse when im hough i see better think clear its like walking on a sunny beach in jamaca is all good or it can be really trippy but whatever its always nice i like that really great high better than being flate out stoned blazed of my ass

depression runs in my family along with bi polar disorder my dad takes alot of medication i think he is going to start on Lexapro i on the other hand ussually don't get depressed during the school year it really bothers me during the summer i usually stay in bed all day i finally broke that habit when i started smoking weed made my summer hell of alot easier

When I'm on a checkstand at work, and my line backs up and I see people gettin all huffy and shit, it really gets me nervous and I start sweatin like a god damn pig. Then I walk away, take a breath, and it immediately stops.

I still havn't figured out a solution. Most days I can go through my whole shift just fine. But other days just 1 little thing can trigger my anxiety/whatever you wanna call it, and it starts up.

I should get it checked out eh? No one wants some big sweaty dude handling all their food.
