question about pain pills and medical MJ

hey buddies. i have an important question regarding my dad. He had a stroke a couple years ago and is partially paralyzed on the left side of his body. he's in constant pain from accelerated arthritis and other pain from the stroke. he currently receives 160 methadone pills and around the same amount of percocets each month (yay for me). he's interested in aquiring a medicinal marijuana permit or whatever, sorry not sure what the correct term is!! anyway if he's allowed to legally use marijuana is there any chance the amount of pills will be cut?? i'm thinking not because the doctors wont be sure if he's been using the MJ, unless they test him that often of course, so it wouldnt be fair to take his pills away. plus im sure patients arent constantly going to be smoking so they're going to need plenty of pain pills as well. any info would be greatly appreciated by me and my dad, me being his legal caretaker. thanks and have a great new year!!

there probably gonna cut down on the pill dosage or amount since he will be smoking the bud to help the pain.
