Medical Caregiver/Dispensary in Denver, CO

I live in Denver and have been on disability since 1991 for chronic pain. My PCP suggested I try mmj, but is unable to prescribe because of hospital affiliation. I don't want to smoke and I don't want to get high. I just want relief from pain after 2 spinal fusions and 20+ years on narcotics that don't seem to help. I would prefer tincture or edible that will not make me tired or hungry. I made an appt with Cannamed tomorrrow, but am anxious about that after reading some posts at this site. Any suggestions about a legit caregiver and dispensary in the metro Denver area? Would appreciate post from people that have chronic spinal pain as to whether or not the mmj helps to alleviate pain and what are side-effects.
