Wondering, as a Cali med. patient, what I can do to help

Theres obviously been a lot of ups and downs for the medical marijuana community in California, with all of the past DEA raids, patient rights, etc. I know where in a pretty good place right now, but what else is there I can do to help out the community?

What hurdles are we trying to jump, and how can I, as an individual, help our fellow patients and caregivers to leap higher over said hurdles.

Basically, I've come across a few hours of free time every day, (my seasonal job ended, and I'm searching for a new job at the moment), and I'd like to use that free time to do whatever I can to help the medical marijuana program in California become stronger and to gain more support and less opposition, maybe by distributing actual scientific facts as opposed to propaghanda, maybe in the form of a Medical Marijuana Tolerance and Understanding flyer?

I'm just looking for ideas to help those who've helped me and so many others. So help me, help you, throw some suggestions my way. I'd rather use a few hours of my spare time doing something worth while than wasting it doing nothing. (and to those who say use that spare time to look for work, Ive already set 3 hours a day aside for job hunting anyways, and I have profiles on some job finding websites similar to monster, so dont think i'm not trying :P

For a start, get a copy of "Granny Storm Crow's list- July 2009". It is a "sticky" at GC and is also linked in my sig. You can get your own free copy by emailing me at i.wantgrannyslist(at)greenpassion.org

Once you have the list, share it with friends, doctors and politicians. Use it to answer idiots like this one- cannabisnews.com: Legalizing Marijuana for Dummies when you see them in the news. Make comments whenever you see cannabis articles in the online news. Write letters to the editor to support medical use.

You should have your state and county politician's emails and addresses bookmarked. Every time you email a politician, be sure to make a print copy and send it by snail mail to him. Chances are, different aides take care of email and snail mail, so it will be counted as two opinions, instead of one! Also, a printed letter is usually considered as the "voice" of 1,000 voters, while an email is only counted as 100 voters. Do them both!

One kid sent the list to his sister, a med school student and she shared it with her fellow students. Another printed up pages with the list's URL with a short study on cancer, MS, etc and left them in the student lounge at his college and also in the local laundromat.

If your state has any initiatives or petitions going, get them and get busy collecting signatures.

Find the address of a MMJ prisoner and write to them You can find an address of a MMJ prisoner by running a search on the terms "Medical marijuana prisoners addresses". Even one letter a month is a great gift to these unjustly emprisoned people. Let them know that they are not forgotten! (I am very happy to report that my current prisoner, Stephanie Landa, has recently been released from federal prison to a halfway house! )

Read cannabisnews.com every morning to keep up on what is happening!
