On Cancer (help me out here!)

My Health Across the Lifespan teacher at my University was talking about drugs and stated that marijuana causes cancer, lung cancer specifically. I spoke up and said that THC inhibits cancer cell growth and proceeded to respond every time she tried to shut me up about it. She then told me to bring in some papers on it if I was serious.

So I am going to.

Here's what I've got so far:

I'd like any of you who can help out to post some links to other studies which suggest there is no link between marijuana and cancer.

I'd like to bring in a shitload of papers for the professor to give the entire classroom a good laugh. The bigger the article, the better.

If possible I'd also like some on infertility and brain cell death.

Make sure to mention the Ronald Reagan Study were they suffocated monkeys with gas masks and released a "study" saying it killed braincells when in reality the lack of oxygen did

Since you're at Uni, definitely your institution's journal subscriptions are your best bet. Because, as you know, you want peer reviewed, scientific journals (which you've got a good start on, btw!).

So go to your Uni library and start doing journal searches in the database. What I fucking LOVE is the electronic delivery, and electronic access. Often you can just print out the full-text article directly!!

Of course, we here at GC can do some research too, but I know for a fact that your institution has better journal access than what I've got right now (since I finished my Masters a couple years ago and don't have uni access anymore to all those sweet-ass journals!).

The 'infertility' argument is unfortunately true i believe, it's nothing significant but remember marijuana isn't completely harmless..

But braincell death is completely made up, you should have no trouble at all getting enough info against that terrible myth with a simple google search

Go to the top of the Medical use forum and look for "Granny Storm Crow's list- July 2009" and click it. It is also in my sig as "Simple format". You will find what you need in the cancer section. There are also sections on "Fertility", prenatal use and pregnancy, neurons and much much more!

The Tashkin study -"No association between lung cancer and cannabis smoking in large study" and "Smoking Cannabis Does Not Cause Cancer Of Lung or Upper Airways" - is a rather large study and was done by a doctor who originally was against cannabis, but is now for it!

Educate that teacher! Give her a copy of my list and school her good!
