My first wife divorced me after I insisted on getting proper care for my medical issues. She wanted to have "control" over me. Honestly, and I hope this doesn't come across wrong, but if your wife isn't willing to assist you in getting the help you need to deal with your chronic pain, is she really your partner? A life partner is just that, a partner; not someone who turns a blind eye to their mate's suffering.
That said, if she's not opposed to you smoking, just to growing, budget for a zip and take care of your pain. I wish you well.

As much as I support marijuana I have to agree with your wife on this one.

If you can find a hookup and you buy bags then that's one thing. Usually a possession charge is just a slap on the wrist at best. But, when you're growing pot that's a whole different story. People lose their houses over that and some go to jail for a very long time, even on their first offense (depending on the laws in the state of course).

I've known at least a few people that have been busted growing - it's not pretty. If you decide to grow anyways then at least take this advice - DON'T TELL ANYBODY. Nobody - no family no friends - just you and your wife ONLY. Usually people get busted because they want to show their friends and all it takes is one person to accidentally spill the beans. Trust nobody with your grow.

I thank god that I dont have MS or CerebalPalsy. I've had surgery and multiple procedures done on my back, and I work very hard to stay fully active and work a full time job, I volunteer, and try to be an active member of society and OF COURSE my families safety is paramount to me.

Have you ever thought about locating a grow somewhere other than your home?

I don't know your circumstances, but my grow is actually at a buddies house. The situation is weird for me, but do you have access to private land or something to house your grow off your house property?

I can understand where the wife is coming from. Especially in the context of GROWING. Its entirely inside the realm of possibility for the LEOs to seize your assets, leave your family broke and homeless and you in prison. Even with MJJ laws in your state they could, and have, still tried to do crap like that. Theoretically they would need to show you profited for your growing outfit before they could seize your assets, but then again "theoretically" Communism works.

Your best bet from a legality stand point is to buy product. An ounce seems to be the magic number in most states. At least if you get busted in that case its only YOUR problem. Even in a "hang um high!" state(read; bible belt) with federal charges it would be at most a Class 1 Misdemeanor. I was even charged with a Class 1 Misdemeanor for flicking a cigarette butt(!) so really its not as scary as it sounds. If it even sounds scary at all.

Also on a side note; you mite want to stick to rolling paper or eating it. Any pipes/bongs/vapes can get you an second charge for paraphernalia.

Check out the FAQ's - NORML legal information to inform yourself and your wife of exactly what the laws are and how to protect yourselves as much as you can under the law. Knowledge is power. You gotta assume your already smarter than the cops or they wouldn't be cops drinking the anti-weed kool-aid, busting your ass for a little grass in the first place.

One of the main problems with going out and scoring when you're on pain management is the constant urine tests. Most pain management clinics test you monthly since, if you are on schedule II narcotics you have to come in for a monthly written script and go throught the whole routine (drug test, pill count yada yada). If you show positive for "street drugs" you're in violation of your pain contract and they will discharge you.
Pain management patients are viewed as the lowest scum of the earth, we're treated worse than child molesters on probation.
I've never violated my pain contract in any way, but every month I'm looked at as a potential drug diverter/junior crackhead.
I've been wondering how that is going to work in an MMJ state, since I will probably still need narcotics.
OP, is your doctor at all supportive? Is drug testing going to be an issue?

Yes we are both fully contributing members of society and pain management IS the issue I want to stop going to these scheduled sessions and being beholden to some doc for narcs.

I have already cut my meds in half over the last few months but this whole thing came about over the remaining ammount of narcs.

I feel that MMJ could replace those pills and help me to get off the final ammount.


I am longing for the day when I can tell those pain docs to take their scripts and tests and go F themselves.

This is for everybody in non MMJ states........become pro-active with your states NORML chapter and become part of the cure. Activism is a first step towards educating the non believers and politicians.

I suggest faxing, emailing, and snail mailing to all your elected officials, both local, state and federal. Send them Granny's list for starters.....tell your story. If the other thousands upon thousands of people in your state with similar stories would bombard the politician's offices.......things would start to tilt in our favor.
