Michigan MMJ Questions

Hey everyone,

Been looking on the forum for a few months now and trying to get educated on the Michigan MMJ laws. I am not trying to milk the system or disrespect those who treat a much more serious condition than mine. I am looking for opinions or stories from ppl that have gotten their MMJ card in Michigan and if they think I ll qualify. All throughout high school I was very active, skateboarding, hockey, tennis etc. and for about the last 2 years I have had lower back and knee pain. Its not screaming pain but it makes it uncomfortable to walk a ton (which sucks on a college campus ) and my lower back hurts almost all the time when sitting. Within the last two months, I have been prescribed zoloft as well for moderately severe depression, the meds work great for the depression, however, I get these crazy ass headaches, i get nauseous, and hardly eat all day from the side effects. Nothing makes me have a better day then a hit or two before I take a shower and then a hit or so in the evening. I eat, and have no pain. I am hoping this would fall under the category of chronic pain and nausea but would like some other opinions please. Thanks in advance for any help!

P.S. - does anyone have any suggestions for MMJ convo starters with my Dr. I am nervous to talk to him about it and was hoping to get some suggestions, I have an appt with my Dr. tomorrow to talk. Wish me luck please!

Just be honest with your Dr. tell him how you feel have your facts ready and if hes not on board, convince him/her with said facts and references for them. Be persuasive you may have to sell him. Good luck and happy trails!
P.S. If that doesnt work get ahold of me and ill give you anothor doctors number who may be more sympethetic.

Yep! My Dr was brainwashed with the fed crap, so I gave her a CD full of info from the sites granny post on these forums. She now has a different attitude (she was outraged about the whole history of the cause of mj being illegal).

Just tell the truth.

THe standard for getting a card is being treated for a qualifing condition at least 3 times in the last 3 years.

Well, I'm getting ready to ask my doc for a referral too -- I have neuralgia (nerve pain) and numbness in random places, a bulging disc that has been treaded with 3 steroid shots and no longer responds, plus chronic pain from a motorcycle accident. I barely respond to Tramadol/Neurontin and am eating 1600mg of Ibuprofen a day just to get around relatively pain free.
The couple of times I've had smoke, it's been allowing me to get a full night's sleep and be pain free -- of course, I'm dry now (so is everyone else :P), so no relief for me. If my doc refuses, I'll find another doc.

I have neuralgia too, among some other problems due to a motor vehicle accident. They tried, tramadol, neurontin, topamax, lyrica......etc , I have had better luck with Cymbalta for nerve pain than the others, with less zombiness, supplementing with Herb makes a HUGE difference in referred nerve pain for me. A bowl is also much less stressful on the tummy than all that Ibuprophin!

Well, I saw my GP today, and I barely had uttered "Medical Marijuana" and he cut me off: "No, I will not even discuss or entertain that. It's an illicit substance."
He referred me back to the orthopedic docs that saw me for my L5/S1 disc and tear -- I see them tomorrow at 9:30AM. Maybe the doc there will be a bit more fucking compassionate.
