Huh? How did you come to this conclusion? They are talking about closing down all clinics where money is exchanged. How in the hell did you come up to the conclusion that they just want to close clinics that have Mexican brick?

Re: Bad news for Los Angeles..........

They are no longer discussing closing ALL of the co-ops, they've backed off of the cash-over-the-counter thing.

NOW they're looking at clubs that sell tainted meds (pesticides), and non-Californian grown meds.

Iwien, looks like you're a little out of the loop, quit scaring people with your gloom and doom, because as it looks now, it's not so gloomy as it was. The DAs realized that they have a very uphill battle, based on the protest that they didn't expect at their little meeting.

Um...my post #42, the article from the Daily News.

Also, I spoke to my two main contacts in GLACA (Greater Los Angeles Collective Association) on Thursday and Friday, both of them are very involved, one was quoted in the LA Times article and appeared on KPCC on Thursday morning, the other was on television Wednesday, and spoke to Janice Hahn's staff just before the infamous meeting.

I don't go to the protests and meetings myself because as a parent, I need to stay behind the scenes, our opponents are NOTORIOUS for going after family to shut up activists. That's why I spend my activism behind the scenes, networking and spreading the news.

Re: Bad news for Los Angeles..........

my favorite spot closed up shop. they were the best in west la area and they just decided it wasnt worth the risk of being raided plus all the legal fees.

i know of a couple other spots that did the same thing.

they havent officially started the raids and theyre already getting what they want.

Well im solid because i went into a club last night and talked to the budtender and he told me that they do things like this often and not much ends up going down. So i think im pretty solid as in being able to still fall under prop. 215 and get the best bud in the most convienent way. Walking into the weed store. And even if they were to close down these clinics/despensaries im still solid considering its not the end of the world.

thanks, but it's really sad how people (just take this wonderful opportunity to help aid patients who are sick & really need the herb and ) open shops to sell inferior laced meds to aid drug cartels. wtf man

Re: Bad news for Los Angeles..........

I wonder about this "tainted meds" bullshit that Cooley is spewing now. He was on The John & Ken Show, a local SoCal radio talk show last week. He called the large number of dispensaries in Los Angeles "a plague", and said that they did some undercover purchases of cannabis and found large amounts of a pesticide that's illegal in the U.S. but common in Mexico. He said the pesticide is used to kill a specific kind of red ant which apparently has a taste for marijuana.

While I have not been in every dispensary currently operating in LA, I do frequent a few and I have never personally found any of the weed I bought anything less than primo. I remember back when I had to buy weed from a dealer, I bought one or two bags where the weed was a little strange smelling or tasting and gave off a weird high, but never since I got my recommendation.

I think Cooley thought he was going to lean on the dispensaries and thought he would have a lot of support from the community. I think he quickly got the hint that this was not the case and in order to back out with grace he invented this new story that there are dispensaries in league with the Mexican cartels and they are selling tainted weed.

When he was being interviewed on the John & Ken Show, they asked him why he wanted to shut down all the dispensaries in LA County when it seems like CA could very possibly be legalizing weed in next year's election. He said that if CA legalizes weed, he will back off, but until then he is going to go after the dispensaries. THIS IS CRAZY! California is already near bankruptcy. Does anybody think this is a wise expenditure of money???

Approx. 800 dispensaries in LA is pretty common knowledge, but this is the first time that I ever heard that there were 130 dispensaries that were within proper code. Please post up where you got these numbers from.
