Re: Bad news for Los Angeles..........

It's not the DEA anymore, it's LOCAL Law Enforcement now, and they will be obtaining warrants and doing things according to due process. Not that it's any better mind you.

HIPAA of course applies to MMJ, they won't be going after patients, they want the growers and the owners of the clubs.

Re: Bad news for Los Angeles..........

Well that's worse, cities have been known to do things that are very self rightous. Like publish names of "Johns" the local paper. Could you imagine if the police decide to print all the names of patients or "drug addicts" as the Long Beach City Prosecutor likes to refer to them as. He is in cahoots with the LA guys.

Re: Bad news for Los Angeles..........

From a British MMJ user to all of you that this personally affects, i am sincerely sorry that this DEA exists.
It is nowhere near this bad in Europe. I feel so angry that the US governement is taking this line, when the individual states can make up their own minds...However, I agree with speaking out against the injustice perpertrated here. And may I say, sticky this post please. It deserves it, as does Mr Lindner, for writing so candidly.

Re: Bad news for Los Angeles..........

And further to the post above, what is the point in having MMJ cards if the dispensaries are raided? Sounds like sheer lunacy to me

Re: Bad news for Los Angeles..........

I just spoke to one of my collective owner friends who said that today has been much more positive than yesterday. According to her the DAs have taken a step back to say that they're only interested in the ILLEGAL dispensaries, that the legal folks should have nothing to fear.

So that's positive.

Also the City Council is pretty pissed at the DAs for going behind their back when they're actively working in good faith with club owners to solve the over-population of clubs today.

Re: Bad news for Los Angeles..........

Got one thing to say, if this falls on top of the dispensaries, they better be ready for a higher crime rate.

This is completely Idiotic.

Re: Bad news for Los Angeles..........

Yeah the DAs took a SHITLOAD of heat for the meeting yesterday, one of the attendees who knew some of the protesters was surprised they were there because they aren't targeting the "good" clubs who follow the laws.

Which IS NOT what they said they were doing. They said they were going after any club that does a cash-over-the-counter business, because according to them that's not authorized by Prop 215 or SB 420 (which is kind of iffy if you ask me).

California District Attorney Jerry Brown's guidelines clearly state that cash businesses are legal under the guidelines as long as the collective is truly organized as a non-profit in a collective type agreement. Apparently Brown's office is also in contact with Cooley and Trutanich as well.

Well, I'm going to my place tomorrow to grab some medicine, and will ask them to remove my name from their database.

Don't jump to too many conclusions here, and definitely don't do anything drastic.

If your club isn't a member of GLACA, then I would find yourself a club that is a member, other than that there isnt' much you need to worry about as a Patient.

CornerStone Research Collective is a member of GLACA and is one of the most well respected and well run operations in all of California, and they are plenty worried as are many other members. See the following thread>>>>>> WeedTRACKER

With that being said, the LAPD does seem to be dragging their feet a bit here>>http://www.dailynews.com/breakingnews/ci_13530683

I understand what you mean, but as a patient, do I have a right to have my name removed from their database?

You can surly make a request, but I don't think I'd call it a "right". They can honor your request, or not. If you no longer want to visit them, I don't see any reason why they wouldn't honor your request to be taken off their database, but..............if you have a recommendation, you are surely on someone else's database.
