Question Reputable CO Dispensaries?

Hi. I'm going in to get evaluated and apply to the state marijuana registry in a couple of days. Having a pronounced and clearly demonstrable need for MMJ, I'm confident I'll qualify. My question is concerning what to do once I leave with my prescription. I've done my research on legal rights and choosing a legitimate doctor, but when it comes to the dispensaries I'm a bit lost.

With the current boom in Colorado dispensaries, I understand that many of them are purely profit seeking entities rather than seeking to be compassionate caregivers. And I've heard some have been exposed as identity theft operations. I'm afraid of choosing the wrong ones out of ignorance. Though I've been a casual smoker of kind bud for years, I've never bought it in large quantities (anything over an 8th, really), so I'm rather in the dark about what constitutes a fair price or what a reasonable price break for a big purchase would look like. I don't want to be taken advantage of, I just want to be able to eat and sleep regularly again. Is there a way to tell if loose seeds have been removed to hide heavily seeded herb or if any sketchy stuff is going on (wetting down the product, etc)? Also, what amount of personal information is legitimate for a dispensary to require before you buy?

Because of the severity of my condition, I'd like to go from the doctor straight to pick up my medicine if possible, but if doing it the right way takes longer so be it. Does anyone have any tips for telling the reputable from the shady?

PS- if you know of any good, reliable places in the Aurora/Denver area, I'd love to hear about it

Re: Reputable CO Dispensaries?

I'm not sure about that area, but if you are going to buy larger amounts after you get your card, I would say it is worth the trip to come up here to Fort Collins and go to Enerchi. Even if you're not getting bigger amounts I would recommend it. I have been to quite a few dispensaries and this is honestly, hands down, THE best disp. Everything is $16 grams, all completely organically grown, and top shelf strains such as Boulderberry, Jackie White, Recon, Maui, etc... Also, you notice an extreme difference in taste between organic bud and bud that is grown with fertilizer and what not. The taste is a lot more potent (Blueberry really does taste like blueberries). I honestly think you will never want go anywhere else if you try this place out.

The only things that the dispensary can/ will ask from you is your ID and your papers to verify that you have actually received a rec from a doctor.

All of the bud at the dispensaries (at least the 10 or so that I have been to) are seedless. They pull the males before they have a chance to pollenate the females so they don't end up producing seeds.

When you go to the disp, don't just look at names. Inspect the bud. Smell it, look at it. If there is anything that smells or looks off, don't get the bud. It's a store, not the streets so you don't automatically have to buy shit from them just because you're there.

Any other questions, PM me.

EDIT: I doubt you'll be able to get your meds directly from your doctor. You'll have to name a caregiver who you trust to grow or get your meds for you.

Re: Reputable CO Dispensaries?

That sounds great, and its definitely, definitely one I'll look into when I can get a ride up there, but I don't have a car so I'd rather find something a little closer to home for my day to day needs. And I didn't word it very well in my first post, but I know not to expect doctors to give out the meds directly, I just want to know how to tell a legit dispensary so I can get MMJ as quickly as possible once I have the referral.

Thanks for the info--especially about what documentation they can/should ask for--and the speedy reply!

Word. You'll be able to tell when you're in a legit dispensary. Anything Colorado Chronix I've heard is pretty unlegit so I'd stay away from them, otherwise you should be good

Cool. I'd heard that about Colorado Chronix-that was one of the reasons I was so sketched out. Plus I think Cannamed was having some issues

Re: Reputable CO Dispensaries?

p.s. stay away from kind pain! your best bet for high quality and sanitary growing conditions would be to go through a personal care giver.

Re: Reputable CO Dispensaries?

I am in the same situation and was wondering if you have had any success finding a caregiver and dispensary in Denver area. I have been on disability for 19 years due to chronic pain, spinal flusions, etc. My pcp suggested trying mmj, but can't prescribe because of hospital affiliations.
